I've told this story before, I had a friend whose father worked for Ed Sullivan. When rock groups appeared, frequently they recruited teenage screamers. I was one of them for the Beatles' second appearance.
I was lucky enough to see the Beatles at Shea Stadium, a million years ago. We've also seen Paul McCartney a number of times. At every concert, I still pinch myself.

Me too. On both. I saw McCartney years after the Wings broke up. He was pretty bad then and the concert was so slowly paced and some songs went on soooooooooo long that I almost fell asleep. Sadly, most has beens don't know they are has beens and it's time to stop.
I don't think 60 Minutes would have used a Paul McCartney segment on the premiere episode of its 51st year on television if the show thought MACCA is a has been. Ratings is the name of the game in television.

@Bridgegal Has been? McCartney's appearance on the late night James Corden show over the summer got so much viewership that CBS decided to add footage to the segment that it had edited out and expand Paul's segment to an entire hour show in primetime. That's how popular this "has been" still is. He has millions of fans worldwide, including new generations of fans. His music has lasted for over half a century and his concerts still sell out.
That's not exactly someone I'd consider a has been.
Paul's new album also debuted at No. 1!

@kivahThe story about Paul's memory comes from him saying in some interviews as he did in the 60 minutes interview that he will sometimes forget some words to a song. Not surprising with the number of songs he has written.

@Roni18 Your comment reminded me of one time I laughed out loud during a MACCA interview (not the 60 Minutes one - one I was watching on YouTube of Paul getting interviewed at the Florida college where his stepson Arlen went to) school).
Anyway, the interviewer was talking about recording artists who were "one-hit wonders" and told Paul he is a "five hundred-hit wonder." LOL!
Good one!
