I was watching Forensic Files the other day and a man tried to harm his wife in a very unusual way. He knew she was afraid of rats and mice, so he put a couple of rats in her car's center console.  He called her when she was on her way to work, driving the freeway, and asked her to look in there for something he had lost.

Of course it caused her to lose control of the car, but nothing tragic came of it, thank goodness.

I have a friend who crashed her car into a tree because there was a bee buzzing around inside.  She wasn't badly hurt, but it was embarrassing for her to explain it to the policeman who came to her rescue!

This episode, along with some of the things mentioned on another thread - butterflies, sharks, frogs - got me wondering what it would take for me to have a wreck.  Without a doubt, it would be a snake - any size, any type, venomous or not, I'd be off into a ditch before I could scream.

Re: Okay, what would it take?

Intersting question...I think it would be a snake for me, too.

A snake or a rat would put me in full panic mode.

Snake, rat, wasp, palmetto bug.

Hey, what about the kid's hamster who got loose and ends up climbing up your pant leg while you're at the wheet........

So many scenarios.

@QueenDanceALot

I often wonder how many "unexplained" accidents were caused by spiders, wasps and bees.

Re: Okay, what would it take?

I can deal with any creature as long as its not in my personal space, and I see it first.

If I were to look down to see a brown recluse spider, a black widow spider, a copperhead, water moccasin, or rattlesnake inside my vehicle, it's pretty safe to assume one of us is going to die.

A snake in the console or floorboard would kill me from a heart attack regardless if I crashed the car!! I CAN'T STAND SNAKES!!!!!

Bees, snakes, mice, bugs....anyone of those would be enough to make me lose control.

Re: Okay, what would it take?

Reminds me of my mom being with my sister in the car, my sister is very scared of cockroaches. My mom noticed one near the gas break pedals and told her she wasn't feeling well and could she please pull over. Mom killed it and off they went, my sister so scared and kept looking for roaches that they had to turn around and go home.

Scarier than any creature would be a person popping up in the back seat.
