A box containing two pairs of shoes I ordered was sitting on my porch and the return invoice with return label was sitting on top of the box unattached.  Could have blown away.  It's a new one for me.

Maybe the driver accidentally pulled it off.  Otherwise how would he have known to associate it with the package?

It was never attached.  There was the delivery info attached to the box.  That's how.

I've received packages in the past where a corner of an invoice would be sticking out of an unsealed area of a box. I imagine iit would be possible to have it catch on something or just be pulled out of the box.

I did.  She thought it odd too and forwarded info to packing dept.  My concern was it could have blown away with my info on it and I would have never known.

Maybe someone got to them before you, had a night on the town dancing in the shoes, then had an attack of guilty conscience and put them back where they found them?
