My gripe is: 1. the excessive programming of same vendors, be it fashion or beauty, hate all day fashion or beauty--gets old quick; 2. the "in process" protocol; 3. the shipping cost changes, no lower ship cost of multiples; 4. refund screwups.....When I get annoyed, I stop watching, don't buy...... Glad we could all have this talk!

Complaining and whining isn't going to do anything.
Stop watching and stop buying.

Just for the heck of it, I looked back at beauty threads and fashion threads over the last few months. They're almost as repetitive as QVC's programming.
Nothing is being accomplished by our pointing out the obvious. It's clear that with all the complaining and unhappiness, enough merchandise is purchased so the Q is willing to sit just below the profit line instead of crossing over from red to black. Makes no sense to me, but very little about how things operate in this company makes sense to me.
Sorry, but I think a shipping cost of $3 is quite reasonable. Buying online not only saves the time and gas you'd spend when shopping at a mall, but all the hassle. I think it's a fair trade. My time is certainly worth more than $3 an hour, so I'm happy to pay it and avoid the B&M stores when I can. (Sorry, Bloomingdales!)
Buying online offers us what I call the "convenience factor". IMO, this is especially meaningful during the holidays. There's a lot to be said for shopping any time of the day, even at midnight in pajamas, and having the item delivered to your door.
I think most people realize that places that offer free shipping are getting that money back in the prices charged for the items being sold. It has to come from somewhere. Is there really any difference purchasing an item for $17 and $3 shipping ..... or $20 and free shipping? People must realize they are still paying, one way or another.
If it really bothers someone to pay shipping costs, then stop buying online and go spend hours in the brick and mortar stores.
BTW, there is a thread category called Suggestion Box for making suggestions.
To respond to your shipping scenario, I believe QVC gets discounted shipping for items sold in bulk, like a TSV, coming from one warehouse, as an example. I don't think all shipping should be passed to the customer if the shipper is getting a deal. And I've dealt with shipping enough in a past life to know that volume = discounts.
I could not ship a pair of shoes to you for $3, but QVC can ship thousands of pairs of shoes for that much or even less. IMHO $3 shipping is competitive & fair. Free would be awesome.
Sorry, but my coffee hasn't kicked in, I guess. Who is giving the shipping discounts? Do you think the USPS gives a discount if the retailer sells large amounts of ... whatever it is? I've never heard of this.
Companies get a volume discount for shipping. The more you ship, the better the discount.
I work for a very small law firm and even we get a discount.

@lulu2 wrote:This has been discussed here many times. Both QVC and Zulily are owned by Liberty Interactive.
There are numerous business articles from August & September, 2015 that discuss the purchase.
At the bottom of this page, other Liberty Interactive companies are listed and they include evite, FTD and Expedia along with Zulily.

I am thinking that the Q has partnered with USPS (postal service) and UPS and there is some kind of deal for shipping. Something is keeping QVC from offering shipping free and that could be it. These companies need to make a profit. With the Internet in full swing people are not buying stamps to send letters the way they used to. Just a guess.
I believe QVC could offer a shopping cart of some sort with like items being shipped with a 'deal' price.
As for the hosts and vendors.. I don't watch much anymore.
I have always thought that there must be some "kick back" for the different postal services.

I am happy to say that I paid off my QVC card and have started ordering less and less.
It has to be really a good deal or something special. I also don't even really watching them as I once did - which is a good thing!
