No Funeral Ceremony - Is this a new trend

When my mother died, she insisted on no funeral, cremation and her ashes thrown into the lake.

Her sister did the same. My friend's mom and dad both went this route too.

Is this a trend?

I see more and more death notices that say no visitation. Services private.

I would prefer this myself.
