The CDC reports on N95 respirator and surgical mask. There is a wealth of information over there to make an informed decision.

@Nancy Drew, I have seen this debunked many, many times. Are you saying that you saw this on the CDC site? It's been tested and found not to be true.

Yes. I am confused as to why we are asked to wear mask when the CDC put this out themselves.

@Nancy Drew, can you provide a link for me, please?

@Nancy Drew I’m also encouraged that the overall mortality rate has gone down with increased knowledge and more effective treatments. Unfortunately, we are starting to see the longer term effects of this disease. Surviving Covid does not necessarily mean you that you return to health and many people are suffering for months after testing negative, even those that weren’t hospitalized.

@tucsongal Where can I get the information this information you posted? I would like to learn more.

@Nancy Drew       I am not @tucsongal, but here are just a few of many different articles out there although some of them can't be posted because of the sidebars:

There is quite a bit out there looking at recovery and many research studies now under way.

You can also probably google "covid brain" for quite a bit of information about some of the neurological issues those recovering are experiencing, etc.

Hope that helps.

Sea lioning? Or genuinely confused and demanding sources repeatedly and exclusively on only one particular part of one particular subject even though many well-meaning people attempt to explain it over and over and over again.

You know, @Lali1, everybody is allowed to have their own opinion. And my opinion is that dismissing this as bunch of hype is a slap in the face for every single suffering or dying with this novel virus and for all who are working so hard help stop more from suffering and dying.

IMO if an entire continent -- Asia wears masks during cold and flu season routinely, who are we to question to mask or not mask when a disease such as Covid arises?

Mask up and save lives. Period.

@Deree  .....  I know what you are referring to and understand. I just have trouble getting my mind to understand. Either you believe in someone or you don't. If you believe in the person you usually don't question their expertise.

I don't provide links myself. However on the CDC front page they advocate for mask. However in the advance search , then other links the report on 3 types of masks come up. N95, surgical and cloth. I personally find it disconcerting on the very same website the cons of surgical and cloth mask hidden then prompted hard on the front page. Now do I think they can reevaluate the pros and cons? Yes but I wish they were more transparent about their change of mind.

Wrong is still wrong just because you benefited from it.

Just in time, Dr. Fauci and Mark Zuckerberg on FB Live tomorrow at 5pm I assume EST for a discussion on what we can do and where we are.  If interested, there is your PSA expert for the day.

@Lali1 Sadly, if you talk to the doctors and the nurses working in the covid units in the hard hit areas, this is just not accurate.  In fact, a nurse I know working in Miami wants to know why it isn't raising alarm all over the country.  She is so very frustrated and tired from working covid ICUs and has no idea how they are going to manage.

They would certainly take issue with the media just trying to stir up emotions to boost ratings.  But I have a feeling the ones I know would say "do it more" because we are drowning here and no one seems to care what is going on out there.

So please, send more of this emotion stirring media her way in Miami would ya?  Because evidently, it hasn't stirred emotions enough in her area.  At least enough to change behavior so that transmission rate starts to drop and they stop seeing younger and younger people in the ICU.

She has a 27 year old in the ICU in critical condition  on a ventilator and is struggling with the fact that the wife just can't grasp how very serious her husband is because they just went to a swimming party and someone there ended up testing positive.  He's young you know and is supposed to do just peachy keen even if he does get it. And you know....it's just the media blowing things out of proportion and trying to scare everyone.

Too bad for this 27 year old.  Sure hope he makes it and hope he recovers without long term impact.  But you know, if you talk about it...it is just the media stirring up emotion.

@Sheila P-Burg, sometimes "believe" is something far different than agreeing or disagreeing with what a person says. Sometimes the "believe" is not derived from reason or logic and becomes part of your emotional identity
