Need battery operated tree help please

Bought a small battery operated tree today with a wire attached that you push to test the lights. It does have a compartment to add AA batteries and an on/off switch. What are you supposed to do with the "test wire" after you install the batteries? Have had other items and just left them on and tucked them aside, but I really don't want to do this on clear plastic tree. I am afraid to pull it out or cut it off. Please share if you have any experience. I would love to know what you did. Thanks

@GCR18 Thanks, tried that and it is really in there tight. Iooking through the plastic it appears that wire is directly attached to the lights that run the tree. I guess I will just leave it. Thanks again for your help.
