I wish non-profits weren't exempted from this law.

Only law abiding companies abide by the list. The enforcement effort is a joke. The FTC can't locate and shut these boiler room telemarketing firms down because the companies are always three steps ahead of the government investigators. The Do Not Call Registry is just another useless, feel good government program that costs us tax money and accomplishes nothing. Honest, law abiding marketing firms abide by it but many illegitimate companies just don't care because they know they won't get caught.

I agree! I too get the calls from BankCard Services almost daily. I let voicemail pick it up and just delete the message.

I have answered before, waited for them to transfer me to a person and before I could even fully get out my request for them to take me off the list, they hung up on me. LOL

Re: National Do Not Call Registry

It is getting extremely tiring blocking numbers from these call centers. Almost half of these are from charities that we have contributed too. What you give is never enough.

I just block nuisance numbers on my phone. Some vacation people keep calling, so I blocked their number.

I was going to do this but my carrier only allows 10 blocked numbers! I'd block one and they'd just call for another so I gave up. LOL

Thanks for your responses - it really looks like no winning on our part - they win! I'll not answer anymore to tell them to take me off their list. I did a few.

I can just block them from my phone. I don't think there is a limit. I didn't go through the carrier to do it.

Re: National Do Not Call Registry

I have a Sprint. I haven't a clue how to block numbers. I copied down three out of state telemarketer numbers so far. One that says Without Caller ID, I can't do anything with that. That one I did ans. and ask them to take me off their calling list. They said they would. We'll see. I have gone to my settings and I see nothing for blocking.

Re: National Do Not Call Registry

Consider yourself lucky if you have a reasonable number of contacts to block. At one point, we had 35-40 calls daily from "charitable" organizations (clearly, we were on the sucker list). They share the lists and often the same organization has multiple numbers.

Non-profits should be included in that law.
