You are suppose to update every 5 years. I have been on the Do Not Call list for 10 years and don't get any calls.

Not accurate. You NEVER need to,re-register or do any sort of update.

Re: National Do Not Call Registry

I signed up for a free service called NoMoreRobo. You create an account on their website, enter the phone numbers for calls that you know are from telemarketers. You still get the calls, but the phone only rings once & then the call is rerouted to a prerecorded message. When a call sneaks through, I go to the website, sign in, & enter the number, which is then added to their list of numbers to be rerouted.

Re: National Do Not Call Registry

I never answer my phones (cell or landline) unless I know the person calling. I do not answer any business numbers. If it is a company I am doing business with, they will leave a message. I set my landline phone so it only rings a few times before going to voicemail, so no prolonged ringing. I block telemarketers on my cell phone.

Re: National Do Not Call Registry

Unless the information has changed, it takes 30 days from the day you register to be put into effect. Registering myself has cut down drastically on the number of PITN calls I get.

I just block nuisance numbers on my phone. Some vacation people keep calling, so I blocked their number.

Re: National Do Not Call Registry

All of our numbers are on the DNCL (two are unlisted) and we still get calls.. seems surveys and research telemarketers are exempt from the list.. I've redone all our numbers several times but they still keep coming.

Re: National Do Not Call Registry

somewhere I read registration can take as long as 30 days - 30 days for callers to update their lists????

I get almost no calls on landline or cell. Now I just wish I could get rid of companies I've had dealings with that call legally. Some of those are annoyingly frequent, but I don't think there's anything in the Do Not Call law that helps get rid of those calls ever!

I use it on my landline phone. I don't get many telemarketing calls on my cell, I get telemarketing texts from TracFone or AT&T, which are both companies that I have services with. With both phones, if I don't recognize the number, I don't answer the call. If it's a valid call, they'll leave a message.

The hackers hacked this a long time ago. It simply does not work.

It doesn't work on computers either. I have blocked many sites that still get through.
