900 veterans and 400 staff have been evacuated from the Yountville veterans home. How tragic for them.

My continued thoughts and prayers to all affected by the fires. California is a beautiful state. My prayer is all will be safe, Californians are very resilient, stay safe and strong.
My sincere condolences to families of those that were lost.

To those whom lost homes, thoughts and prayers to endure what must be very devastating.

The air here in San Francisco is thick with particles, breathing is uncomfortable. Several neighborhoods in the city are reporting a rain of ash.
We hope everyone up there is safe.
@Noel7 Yes, DH said the smolke was terrible the other day. At that point, I wasn't aware of the fires, horrible, and it isn't even hot these days, so I wouldn't have expected fires to break out, though I know a lot of vegation is dry and brittle.

I'm worried. QVC Addiction and your dog, please try to be evacuated soon. Even though it's not mandatory, a shelter would be better, air quality-wise. For you and your dog. There are places that allow you to take your pets. Think about it.

I hope you are not in danger. Can you get away from the area? The air alone is dangerous for you. Or maybe at least stay with a relative?
Thank you. Except for being very anxious right now, I'm 81 and strong, but I have a headache and live alone. The son that always helps me is 20 miles away in Windsor. The rradio station that is giving updates is saying by 11AM today the winds are going to pick up again to 20mph low area and 40 in the hills and the fire could go anywhere.
I could go to a shelter, most are packed. I have another son that lives a mile away and a daughter around the corner., They are gone I guess because I can't get ahold of them by phone andf went to her house and the car is gone. Our area is 7 miles from SR, but the smoke is thick and the back road is closed, has been since Monday morning. I had to go to the lab and our clinic at Kaiser here is closed, but Petaluma is open, so I didsovered 101 freeway was closed, so I went the back road, that was closed, but I have been here 42 years and know all the back roads, so I got to Kaiser clinic.
My neighbors, two young men have been keeping an eye on me and said when it is time to leave, they will notify me and help me. So far, if the winds don't blow this way, we might make it. Thank you for your concern. The poor people that lost their homes, I volunteer with some and got phone calls about them losing their homes and people checking up on me. I am blessed wih friends, not so much family. except one son and he and his wife have no internet, no cable, no gas, his roads closed, so he e mails me on his i phone.. We are all just praying a lot.
All our beautiful hotels and wineries and homes up in smoke. Most of the homes have been in the wealthy section of Santa Rosa, but no matter how wealthy it still is devestating to lose your home. They evacuated Oakmount the Senior housing this morning and a few homes are burning there. There is 0 containment. All are working hard, but, it seems impossible. All we can do at this point is pray. For now, my area is safe. I am staying fully dressed at this point 24/7 with my dog right by myside. I will not abandon her, no matter what, she is my comfort and depends on me. Thank you.

I just answer the situation to another poster, thank you for your concern. It depends on the wind that is going to kick up today. Twenty miles in the low area and 40 in the hills, which then the fire can go anywhere. My poor dog is a rescue from a flood a few years ago and lost her owner and home. She is really all I have and I am all she has. She has been my life saver the last eight years. At 81, it's hard, but I am strong and I will not put her in any shelter to be lost again. No ones fault, but they can't keep track of all animals if fire starts there. We will be OK. My neighbors and friends have been keepibg track of me. Our area, is OK for now, but if the winds pick up the fire and come over the hill like it did in Santa Rosa yesterday in areas you didn't expect, all we can do is be vigilent and pray a lot. Devistating. I'm very nervous right now, but I'll be OK. Thank you. I just need to express myself at this point because I keep pacing the floors. Thanks all of you for listening to me rattle on.

I don't know if this will be beneficial: If and when you evacuate (and hopefully no fire danger), and hopefully you are wearing a mask, even now.: To protect your dog from the outside smoke, getting into a car, maybe use a wet (damp) lightweight towel over his/her nose and mouth. Even a damp paper towel. Just so he/she won't inhale any outside smoke when entering the car. Again, nothing scientific, just guessing. We are all wishing and hoping that you and your nice neighbors and others and all your pets will be safe. ![]()
