Hopefully this nonsense of 'diversification visas' will come to an end.  They make absolutely no sense in todays world.

I'm grateful my husband decided he had enough with the NYC traffic and decided it was time to pack it in and retire.

Who knows what time he would have walked in the door last night if he were still working.

    I don’t understand.8 people were mowed down by a terrorist & you’re grateful that your husband didn’t come home late?

Yes, when it got to the point where he was spending 20-30 hours a week commuting, yes I am grateful that he wasn't there or near the sight...not sorry for being selfish.

That program has been in place since the 90's. I agree to a point, but if no record is found, then what?

I agree @NicksmomESQ.  New Yorkers will not live in fear and be "terrorized"! They will move on and live their lives in a great city that has survived much worse.

I loved seeing the Halloween parade go on last night and the trick-or-treaters were out with their parents enjoying the evening. The NY Marathon will go on, as planned.

Uzbekistan has had an uptick in radicalization so it makes sense to rethink entry to the US from that country.

First responders did a great job.

@GraceCO there are 51,000 running in the marathon.  Lots of security will be there.

@Snoopp

I heard that--NYPD is tripling their security of the marathon. NYC, on a normal day, has the best police coverage in the country, acc to one of the city's former police commissioners. I always feel safe in New York--and I was there on 9/11.

Living in NYC iis scary or for that matter, anywhere! We all have to be vigilant and look out for one another and be good to one another. I feel bad for our children. My grandson is 9 and last year, while driving to his baseball game uptown, he saw a shooting in front of their car and then a lot of police. He was scared. It left his mark with him for awhile. He did verbalize his feelings but I think kids internalize their feelings sometimes, so who knows. Now, my daughter had to explain what happened last night. If the parents don't explain these horrible acts that go on worldwide, the kids talk about it in school so it's better at least for my grandson, to talk about it and get the true facts and feelings out. I feel it's tough to be a child these days with the world as it is. We do our best and take one day at a time. I wish everyone to be Happy, Health and Safe.

After the car & truck attacks overseas, the NYC cops & the FBI have developed a relationship with car/truck rental outlets in NY & NJ, teaching them how to spot a bogus ID and sharing other information.

I don't know how the guy got to the Home Depot.

Don't know if he stole or rented the truck.

The bad guys can steal a vehicle from anywhere.

We'll just have to wait and see.

But I have faith that NYC and the local FBI office including Homeland Security has been doing all they can since 9/11.
