I'm in my 60's, and I wouldn't want all that on my own body, but it doesn't bother me at all that others choose to do it. I work out in a fitness facility where there are lots of people of both genders with numerous tattoos (you get to see a lot more skin in a place like that!)........so I guess I'm used to it.
I also work at a college........need I say more? I actually have 3 piercings in each ear, but I admit it does make me flinch when I see earrings anywhere on the face........or the tongue........ouchie!

@Marp Be cautious of dark inks like black. A black cat design will require a lot of ink and it can cause an allergic reaction.

I am not a not professional but my opinion is, some of the nicest people are all tatted up and some mean people have no tattoos or piercings. So the character of the person is not affected by their choices. For myself I would not get either but do like some tattoos on some people.

I do not like tattoos or piercings, so I have none.
Whether someoe else chooses to have them or not affects me in no way whatsoever, so why should I care?

Can I ask? Years ago, and I mean years ago. I was with a girlfriend who was of the jewish belief. Somehow the topic of tattoos came up and she said to me that jews don't get tattoos. I didn't know that then. She told me that it was a reminder of the tattoos that those in the death camps had in WWII. Is that still the case today?

It actually goes back much father, to Leviticus but I don't want to open up a religious debate and break the rules. Suffice it to say that just like other rules some people do and some people don't. Yes, I know Jewish people with tattoos and ones without tattoos. You aren't kicked out of shul or anything for having a tattoo, nor does it get you banned from the mikvah.

I have heard that about the older generation. I don't know if the young kids today still feel the same way.

@Nancy Drew and @Puzzle Piece, I don't want to get into trouble posting anything religious but I just read about it and there's something written about this in the Torah.. Just sharing information with my fellow posters.

My ears are pierced but I was 32 years old before I finally took the plunge. That said, I really don't like tattoos or multiple body piercings, especially the tongue, lip and nose rings. I don't think they look attractive. Just not my thing so I will never do it. What other people do is their business.

Exactly.
True story - my late husband was in a wheelchair during the last Christmas season of his life. We wanted to do some Christmas shopping and headed out to the local mall. Well, the worst we were treated, with glares and heavy sighs and even at one point elbowed because we got in some folks way came from well-dressed folks. You know who jumped in without hesitation to help us with doors and even interceded for us in the elbowing incident? A number of goth young folks. They were heavily tatted, pierced, black lipstick and nails, leather and dog collars and BIG SMILES and helping hands.
