Mrs. Roper Romp - Phoenixville PA

My son was telling me about the Mrs Roper Romp. It happened in Phoenixville, PA on September 21st.

We were away in South Carolina, so did not know it was happening. Did anyone from QVC Community attend? Would like to read your experience.

This is about the event - "Don your favorite Kaftan , costume jewelry and red curly wig and join us for an epic bar crawl through the streets of Phoenixville!
Date is tentatively set for 9/21. Tell your friends, and their friends.
We had such a great turnout last year that we are going bigger and better this year. (We may even attempt a record.)"

Tips for Getting in Character

  1. The Outfit:
    • Muumuus and Caftans: Mrs. Roper’s wardrobe staple was the muumuu or caftan. Look for brightly colored, floral, or geometric-patterned loose-fitting dresses. Thrift stores, vintage shops, and online retailers often have a good selection.
    • Bold Accessories: Chunky, oversized jewelry is a must. Think big bead necklaces, large earrings, and colorful bangles. The more eclectic and eye-catching, the better.
    • Footwear: Mrs. Roper often wore comfortable, easy-to-slip-on shoes. Opt for sandals or flats that match the vibrant style of your outfit.
    • Props: Consider carrying props that fit the theme, such as a cocktail, a vintage purse, or even a toy poodle (a nod to the era).
  2. Hair and Makeup:
    • Hairstyle: Mrs. Roper’s hair was typically styled in a short, curly bob. You can achieve this look with a wig or by styling your own hair with plenty of curls and volume.
    • Makeup: Go for a bold and playful look. Bright eyeshadows, rosy cheeks, and a vibrant lipstick will help capture her fun personality.
  3. Personality and Attitude:
    • Playfulness: Mrs. Roper was known for her flirtatious and playful demeanor. Embrace this by being outgoing, friendly, and a bit cheeky.
    • Humor: Her character often brought humor to the show, so don’t be afraid to joke around and have fun with your fellow participants.
    • Confidence: Mrs. Roper carried herself with confidence, despite her sometimes over-the-top fashion choices. Own your outfit and have a blast.

The Mrs. Roper Bar Crawl is all about celebrating the fun and nostalgia of a classic TV character while enjoying a night out with friends. Embrace the spirit of Mrs. Roper, and you’ll be sure to have an unforgettable time.

Re: Mrs. Roper Romp - Phoenixville PA

they did this in rehoboth beach, delaware also.

it was also on 9/21.

 CAPE GAZETTE

The second annual Mrs. Roper Romp in Rehoboth Beach will kick off with a group photo at 12:45 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, at the bandstand.

A costumed bar crawl, the romp is based on Mrs. Helen Roper, a character on the 1970s TV show, “Three’s Company.” Mrs. Roper was the wisecracking, caftan-wearing, love-deprived wife of landlord Stanley Roper. The romp began in 2013 as a Million Mrs. Roper March of men and women wearing caftans and curly red wigs during a New Orleans parade. Today, there are countless Mrs. Roper Romp/Bar Crawl groups all over the world.

From 1 to 4 p.m., partygoers will romp all over downtown Rehoboth Beach to take advantage of food and drink specials, photo opportunities, live DJs, contests and other entertainment. More than 15 local merchants are expected to participate.

OMGosh!  Who/what is a Mrs Roper??? I hate mumus!  Before I read the info, I was wondering what are the odds of so many people in one gathering having curly red hair lol. I have never heard of a Roper Romp.  Is it similar to the Red Hat Ladies?

@monicakm  She was on the series Three's Company with John Ritter, Suzanne Somers and Joyce DeWitt.  The series ran from mid 70's to mid 80's.

The Colonial Movie Theater in Phoenixville is where The Blob was filmed.

Every year they have a Blob Fest in July!
