cat, dog, goat, bird, you get attached.  heck, if an animal lives with me for a week or two I get attached (doesn't take much).

I rehabbed a pigeon that was attacked by a hawk 3 times.  I bore witness to 2 of the attacks myself.

I had that pigeon with me for little over a month.  It took time for wounds to heal and lots of feathers to come back in.  I released it back into the wild around Mother's Day and cried like a baby.

Part of it was tears of joy to return Rocky to his 'people' (the other pigeons).  Part of it was tears of sadness - I fell in love with that little pigeon.

If you think about it though, taking their food is undermining the ecosystem they depend on.

@momtochloe

I am not kidding when I tell you they find me.   Some days it's like they are dropped on my doorstep.

With Rocky, that morning, my pigeon Grayson jumped out of my hands when I was in a standing position.  Grayson found me in 2009, torn to hell - soft tissue damage that would never allow right wing to heal well enough to sustain flight.  So that's how he joined my flock - he he.

Anyway, I work full time and that morning Grayson landed on cheap carpet runner from about 5' high.  He was fine but my mind kept telling me, maybe you should talk 1/2 a day personal time and go home to be sure he's fine.

I came home early and a hawk was attacking Rocky in the front yard as I pulled into the driveway.  I've seen a hawk attack in the backyard, never the front yard - ever.

So, I took it as a sign from God and St. Francis - my partner in crime :-)  - that it was meant for me to come home at that exact time.

Oh yeah, on the way home from work I stopped at the gas station and tanked up the car.

What are the odds?  Honestly, I stopped trying to figure it out years ago.  It's what it is.

My house is a bed and breakfast or rehabilitation facility or hospice for the birds out there.  Yea, sometimes they're sent to me before they cross the bridge.

It's my life, lol.

@Bird mama your stories have always so touched my heart throughout the years . . . God bless you for all you do for those that cannot do for themselves.

I agree, I don't know why you needed to leave work early that day but thank God you did . . . I think He speaks to us in different ways and clearly you have His ear and your babies are better for it,  I so thank you my friend as I love to hear great stories about those that are found, healed and thrive . . . Heart

@Bird mama -- you bet me to it!  Still laughing!!  Now they don't have to wait for the nuts to take twelve years (whatever) to ripen.  They can collect the goat pellets!

Excellent point @maestra, if I hadn't seen this picture through the provided link I would think it was photo shopped (which of course should have included a photo of Josie . . . I think I see a space for her in the upper right quadrant) . . . step away Josie and let the goats do what they do . . . . Smiley Happy

Re: Moroccan Tree Goats Eating Argan Fruit

Ah, it seems no one here understands the havesting process of argan nuts. The goats eat the fruit in the trees and digest it. The nuts or pits are then collected from their poop. Thoroughly cleaned before pressing. This is an age old procedure.

@Dorothy11

Thank you for that Dorothy.  It's a win-win situation then.  Goats get what they need and Josie gets what she needs.

Re: Moroccan Tree Goats Eating Argan Fruit

Good heavens, now I've seen everything....lol   I thought they would be nibbling fruit from the low hanging branches.  Tree climbing goats....unbelievable.
