Medicare is Expected to Rise 6.7%

Yes, we got a great raise in SS - 5.9%, but just be aware Medicare is expected to rise about 6.7% which, based on $148.50 is about $10.

I'll take a $10 increase and be thrilled with it.  The price of everything goes up.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Whenever the government "giveth" it can also "taketh" away. My Mother's proverb.

That is one of the problems with percentages!!!!!!!!!!!!  Here is the actual for me.  My increase is over $100.00 per month.  Medicare increase is $ 10.00 per month, I net an increase of $ 90.00 per month.  I will take that any day over your percentage "comparisons".

Not holding my breath.  Delighted to hear about it and also to be able to receive it, wondering the catch.  Also on Medicare, will that  negate the increase?

@bonnielu  Medicare increase is $10 per month.  The Social security increase is averaging $100 a month I think.

Might be true in general, but not in total giving-taking. In my case, the government "giveth" me a $142 a month raise in my Social Security COLA increase in 2022 and "taketh" only $10 a month.

So should I be bragging or complaining? I think it's pretty cynical to find any negatives in these adjustments, either the percentage of increase for benefits or the increase to premiums.

The very latest statistics for the inflation rate in the United States economy is at about 5.4%. That's in keeping with the COLA percentage of 5.9%. No one is getting rich on SS or the additional money, but it does offset what we all see as "paying more for everything".  Here is a breakout of what sectors went up

Re: Medicare is Expected to Rise 6.7%

Well good for you!  However, many of us won't receive $100 a month increase!  Mine is much less, but Medicare increase will be the same for me as it is for you.  FYI, I just paid 3.499 a gallon of gas today, much over $1.00 a gallon more than last year.  Those of us in rural areas depend on our cars and gas in our cars to get to the grocery store, doctor or just getting out.  The SS increase won't even begin to cover all the expenses that have gone up in the last year.  Great for some (you probably) not even making a dent to me.

The cost of company sponsored health plan is going up a lot more than $10.
