It's a fact.
Whenever someone has a gripe about anything in America it's McDonald's that gets slammed.
Showing the calorie content was what folks were griping about over fast foods. McDonald's of course was slammed. Like we all weren't born with common sense and brains to know what to eat and what portions, etc. as to what is good and healthy for us.

🤣
Definitely see how it kinda/sorta looks like a phone #!

Posting of calories varies in different parts of the country. It is not a federal law.

In summary: For certain covered restaurants, it's federal law & they have until May, 2018 to comply.
(source: fda.gov)
As required by statute, FDA’s final rule for nutrition labeling in chain restaurants and similar retail food establishments will provide consumers with clear and consistent nutrition information in a direct and accessible manner for the foods they eat and buy for their families. Posting calories on menus and menu boards and providing other nutrient information in writing in chain restaurants and similar retail food establishments will fill a critical information gap and help consumers make informed and healthful dietary choices.
In addition, covered establishments will also be required to post a statement on menus and menu boards about the availability of such additional written nutrition information. To be covered, an establishment must be a restaurant or similar retail food establishment, as defined in the final rule. In addition, such establishment must: (1) be part of a chain of 20 or more locations, (2) doing business under the same name, (3) offering for sale substantially the same menu items.
Some establishments are already voluntarily posting nutrition information, but restaurants and similar retail food establishments covered by the menu labeling final rule have until May 7, 2018, to comply with the rule’s requirements. In most cases, you’ll also see calorie labeling for packaged foods sold in vending machines by December 1, 2016. However, there are certain food products sold from glass-front vending machines that may not have calorie labeling until July 26, 2018.
Compliance Date: In May 2017, based on comments received, FDA is extending the compliance date for menu labeling requirements from May 5, 2017 to May 7, 2018. This extension allows for further consideration of what opportunities there may be to reduce costs and enhance the flexibility of these requirements beyond those reflected in the final rule.

Most even have it on their websites in a pdf version for printing or at least next to the item on-line. Helps to make a deicision if you want to know a head of time where to get the healthier choice for fast food. Sometimes the urge may come over us for a drive thru trip but the lesser evil is best.

I have seen it but I tend to ignore. If I were overly concerned about calories, I wouldn't be at McDonalds.

It's been posted on their menu boards in and outside for several years. Nothing new......

I do count calories and eat at McDonalds.....I like having the information readily available. It can fit into your calorie goals.....now, the nutritional value.....that's another story! LOL

Been that way for a long time. It doesn't really matter though- those that really should be concerned about calories aren't reading the calories. If they were concerned about calorie consumption, most likely they wouldn't even be eating at Mcdonalds. They should also list the sodium content of everything. That would probably shock most people. I bet it is terrible. Fast food restaurants are just horrible.

THis has been the norm for years in my area; same with KFC.
I don't remember if the majority of McDonalds are owned by the company or are franchises but it would make sense if you're just now seeing them if corporate told franchise's they had the option of showing the values until XYZ date when it then became mandatory.
