Re: March Bird's Nest - Is it Spring Yet?

Hi Birding Friends, Dropping by to say hi and that I hope to get back here after supper with GS. Been a wild week trying to keep up with the boys and their needs and being chauffeur for not only them but a couple of the neighbor kids.

Thanks, Birdmama for the beautiful bird photos. I have a lot of White Throat Sparrows at home. One Goldfinch female here.

Catch you all later.

Re: March Bird's Nest - Is it Spring Yet?

Beautiful picture Possum.

Where is everyone? Sure wish they would come back. I must have too much invested here to worry about people like I do but always everyone's posts. Hope all are fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a bunch of hungry birds but I filled their feeders only a few days back - hasn't even been a week - they are getting really pushy!!! No fear as there are two feeders still full but those feathered ones sure have gotten pickey - I remember when they emptied those as quickly as the other ones. Guess they are spoiled?

Say a prayer - Stripes has been inside most of the day - his request - but he reallyw anted out so I obliged him. Sure hope I can get him in later. Last night he was a bad boy - I gave up but looked again about 1 in the morning and there he was sleeping on top of the freezer = I have a blankie there for him. {#emotions_dlg.sneaky}

Got some yard work done - and the big thing was I finally DITCHED VErizon cell phones. Will save about $60 a month (a tad more) - yippee!!!!!!!!!!!! I signed up with Metro PCS - compare $80 a month to $120 plus fees which added up to almost $150, that's Verizon of course!!!

Jackthebear, thanks for visiting the Bird's Nest. We've had some un-springy feeling temps here too. The sun is shining this morning and I think we might get near the 50's. Now comes the time of year when I don't know what coat to wear {#emotions_dlg.angry}

Re: March Bird's Nest - Is it Spring Yet?

Good Sunday Afternoon, Birding Friends.

After having rain, storms and tornado watches all day yesterday, it's beautiful outside here today. No humidity to speak of, breezy and sunny. Would be a nice day to walk along the seashore, but I think it would be "ducky bumps" (I like that better than goose bumps) if a person went into the water. I am sure it's chilly and the wind off of the gulf is pretty sharp and cold. It's a northwest wind.

We have a crow visiting the back yard now, or at least for the past couple of days. I toss out bread pieces for the regulars and now this beautiful and big crow comes to share the bread. I love the caws of these Florida crows. Very different from the caws of the crows at home. Kind of raspy, like a sore throat. Down near Palm Beach they have Fish Crows, or so they are called and their caw is really "hoarse", like a croak. Must be a Southern drawl, caw. I have seen some small songbirds on the migration back north. Usually I will startle one or so when I go into the back and of course, I don't have the binoculars and my eyes are no where as sharp as they used to be. A minus to aging, but there are many pluses, so I can't complain. Wouldn't do a bit of good if I did complain. I just deal with it and accept it. I am very grateful for what I do have. I know it could be gone in a second, so I appreciate it while I have it. Am I making any sense or just rambling again?~~~~

Winifred, It's amazing how the cell phone and land line phone fees can mount up. I have my computer, tablet, cell phone, landline phones(2 of those, one for each house) phones "bundled" and still pay about $310.00 or so a month. I am with ATT as the carrier at home. My son's home is all Verizon, 4 TVs, 5 computers, 3 tablets(including mine when I am here), and 6 Smartphones. I don't even want to guess what their phone bill is with Verizon. Amazing how all of the new fangled items have become a "necessity" now a days. I'd be lost without my computers. The tablet can do some of the stuff the computer does, but it's not as efficient or easy to use.

The Smartphone is almost "attached" to me anymore. I use it for all kinds of tasks and rely on it for weather warnings, alarm clock, banking, and even electronic coupons at Publix. Amazing technology. I downloaded a new "tips" ap. to go along with the calculator that's on there. It's really cool. Has a slide to put in the % of the tip. All I have to do is enter the total bill, and it figures the tip and gives the total bill. I just have to copy the info. onto the bill and I'm set. Love it. I almost go into a panic mode if I don't know where that phone is at all times. I guess I shouldn't rely on it so much.

My basketball tournament bracket is on my phone too, and it's updated constantly by ESPN when the games are being played.

The washer signal just went off. We washed some new shirts I got for my GS who's at the U of Tampa. His dad is heading to the Fresh Market store near there and will drop off the shirts and other things I picked up for him and then bring back the dirty laundry. GS doesn't seem to 'get around' to doing his wash, and then complains that he's having to wear dirty clothes. Some lessons need to be learned, I think. I don't mind doing his laundry now and then, but he has to learn responsibility for himself. Nuf said.

Will say bye for now. Have a lovely afternoon, Birding Friends and stay safe and be well.

Webbie will not allow me to name the bird above. It's the Great Twit (minus the letter w)
