March Bird's Nest - Is it Spring Yet?

Welcome to the March Bird's Nest, where we are celebrating St. Patrick's Day

/>

and anxiously awaiting the beginning of Spring

<img class=

Among the trees
Is a bird's nest,
And in the nest
Her three eggs rest.
And in each egg ~~
Hush, you'll be heard! ~~
There lies asleep
A tiny bird.

Re: March Bird's Nest - Is it Spring Yet?

Welcome to a new Month Birding Friends ~ I'm a bit anxious for the sparrow couple that occupies the bird house under my garage roof soffit. I noticed, as I looked out of my kitchen window yesterday morning, that they were mating on the roof of their house. In the dozen years that I have lived in this house - there has NEVER been a clutch prior to May. The current bird house is showing wear. The shingles fell off one side of the roof, but there is a wooden substructure, so the birds remain covered when inside the house. I've been on the lookout for a replacement house of a similar color and style (cottage). I am going to order 2 new houses from Amazon. I just hope the birds were fooling around and there won't be any eggs in the old house. It's too cold for babies {#emotions_dlg.crying}.

I am going to a birthday party for my great niece today. She turns 3 on Monday. We're going to a place called Java Jungle (a kids place like Chuckie Cheese I think). Should be fun.

It's snowing a bit right now and I am expecting another 3 inches. Ugh.

Re: March Bird's Nest - Is it Spring Yet?

Good Morning, Birding Friends, Have a great and safe weekend.

Thanks, Birdmama, for the new roosting spot for us. Still can't believe it's March. Time does have a way of just marching on whether we are "in step" or not.

Re: March Bird's Nest - Is it Spring Yet?

Thanks Bird Mama for getting us going for March - greatly appreciated!!!!!

Matty6, sure hope you come back often - the more the merrier. Sometimes our bird friends fly off with the birds but they usually come back - and we do fret when we do not hear from friends. Speaking of which we have several missing for quite a spell - hope all come back soon.In between the rain today filled all the feeders. One I should have ignored as it is a flat dish and when I went out the seed that once was there was swimming - tossed it on the ground. It is quite cold outside also. Yep, the rains have wreaked havoc here - California does nothing other than in a big way. Sigh. {#emotions_dlg.mad}

I slept pretty darn good last night - had to get up way too many times - nature does call but I was able to go back to sleep each time in about 30 minutes or less - that is so much better. I hate it when I stay awake for 3 hours or so - that is miserable.

I am having some Veggie Bird Nests from Trader Joe's for dinner. I love those things and that will be sufficient. Tomorrow for sure I will fix a full routine dinner in the slow cooker - nope, have no clue what yet but am sure it will be a chicken breast as I have a zillion of those things in there - could not pass up a great sale on the best ones anywhere.

Hope all had a super good day!!!

Love this time of the year...we have been in the 70's-80's for a while now. Some people are getting their Air Conditioners turned on!! All the trees are turning the perfect shade of Spring green!! And all the blooming plants are filled with colors - peach, pink and yellow! However our March winds will probably begin soon and if they are strong enough, they will blow the buds right off of the foliage!! But it sure is pretty while it lasts.

Re: March Bird's Nest - Is it Spring Yet?

Hello there Birding Friends ~ I am having a long weekend and it was nice to plan a vacation day versus calling in for one because of the weather Smile. It snowed Saturday night into Sunday and there was enough for me to use the snow blower. My snow blower has been acting up the last couple of snows. he traction drive or whatever it is that is supposed to propel the thing is not working well at all. It looks like I am fighting for my life when I do my snow. I have had this machine professionally maintained and will take a shot at having it repaired at the end of season (in honor of my husband as he loved his Ariens). As I was fighting it yesterday I told it that I have it's replacement picked out. I really do - another Ariens on a smaller scale.

I guess I better hit the road. I need to mail a few letters, drop off the income tax paperwork at the accountant's house and then do some grocery shopping.

Re: March Bird's Nest - Is it Spring Yet?

Those birds devoured all their food in about one day. Well the rain was so constant for a few days it makes sense. Noticed last night about dark the feeders were completely empty. Will get them refilled later - actually I do not fill them daily any more due to the cost of the seed but am sure they suffered a tad during the rain so will fill them so they can continue their happy good weather party.

I saw the tinniest bird yesterday in a rose bush - have NO clue what it was but it was tiny. At first glance thought it was a hummer but when I could get a better look it obviously was not. It was flitting around pretty darn good so perhaps it was not a baby bird. Still can't get over how tiny it was.

I need to get a move on and get dressed - have to head up to Curves shortly and then to the hairdresser.

Have a great day everyone!!!!
