Re: March Bird's Nest - Is it Spring Yet?

Hi Birding Friends, I am almost too late to post a Mardi Gras hello by way of the cat below. Can't believe lent is starting but then I am getting so left "in the dust" the way these days and weeks fly by{#emotions_dlg.blink}.

I had DDIL's car today, so I decided to skip breakfast and go to Paneras/St.Louis Bread Co. for lunch. I love their Cream of chicken and wild rice soup and their chicken salad sandwiches. I got the boys some of their toffee cookies and some scones. Love all of their baked goods. I did some grocery shopping after that and then fixed supper for DDIL and my middle grandson.

He graduates from high school in May and is such a hard working kid. He works with a neighbor who has a lawn service business and so GS is learning all about lawns, maintenance of lawns and machines, landscaping and tree trimming. All of those services are needed year round down here in FL. He loves the agriculture classes he's taking in HS and has already applied to colleges. He wants to work with Marine Sciences and law enforcement,. His ideal job would be Marine Patrol in the Florida Keys. Or working with Border Patroling and DEA . That sounds dangerous to me. He has taken some law enforcement classes of some type already.

It was a bit cooler today, but still near 80. Spring break persons are already filling up the beaches over in Clearwater and St. Petersburg. For sure a lot warmer here than up north.

I haven't watched the Weather Channel today, so I don't know if CA is still getting some helpful rains. I sure hope so, but then there's the danger of the mudslides in the burn areas from last year. Sometimes, you can't win for losing.

Waving to all Birding Friends. Be safe and take good care.

Re: March Bird's Nest - Is it Spring Yet?

Quite beautiful yesterday - got all my wash done, hung out and dried. Got lazy about putting it away so after Curves this morning will get to putting it away and hanging what needs to be on hangers. Golly but I am getting lazier and lazier - never would I have ever not done this immediately but the past few weeks have been sloppy about it. I think sometimes when you live alone you really get sloppy - more ways than one. LOL.

When daylight breaks will see how many new holes out in my lawn - that has gotten so frustrating. Just cannot seem to slow those critters down or thin them out. Have always had to fight them but usually can take care of some of them but these past few months - it has been a nightmare. Just gets worse each day. Yesterday there were about 10 new holes out there - if it keeps going that way will not have a house still standing and certainly the lawn will be gone - it's almost destroyed now anyway.

Slept for two nights with the window by my bed wide open - It has been heavenly. That does not mean the nights are really warm but they are sure nice.

Love all the bird pictures - they are so neat!!!

Re: March Bird's Nest - Is it Spring Yet?

Hi Birding Friends, It's a beautiful day here in the Tampa area, sunny, 60ies(so far) and low humidity. Not too much going on with the birds at the feeders. We had a good rain on Thursday and the waterbirds like that.

I have been seeing the little cattle egrets all around in yards and fields. They are always searching for bugs, lizards etc. It's really funny to see them on top of hedges checking to see if there are some little lizards and other lunch items.

The ospreys are busy building a new nest on the hacking platform near the mall. They are so unconcerned with all the traffic that passes close to their nesting area. There are several large ponds and lakes near their nest. Yesterday I saw some Sandhilll cranes by one of the ponds on the way to the Mall.

I hope the photo of the white peacock stays up at the beginning of this post. Photobucket has been removing the photos and leaving their ugly box message about bandwidth a lot lately. They have removed several photos and graphics that others have left on some of the VPs threads. I don't know how they do it and I have paid to have unlimited bandwidth with them.

Stepping Stone, It was good to see your post. Hi back to you and I hope all is going ok with you and your loved ones.

Hoping all is going well with all Birding Friends. Need to tend to the dryer and hang some of the things that don't have to be ironed if you can get them on hangers while a bit damp.

Have a good rest of your Saturday!!
