I don't know if this topic has been discussed before and if so I apologize
I went to Costco this morning and before I got out of my car, I pulled my membership card out of my wallet. Walked to the entrance and two men were pulling out carts and proceeding to the entrance. The first one pulled out his wallet at the entrance, found his card and went in. The man in front of me, got to the entrance, pulled out his wallet and had trouble finding his card. I caught the eye of the employee, waved my card in the air and he nodded for me to enter. Went around the man, walked a few steps and looked back and sure enough he was still looking for his card. Bit of a crowd waited behind him.
But, I've noticed this so many times at store checkouts. Men don't pull out their wallets to pay until the cashier has completely finished the checkout process. I always have my card out and tap the screen the minute I get up to to the machine.
I am curious, does anyone else notice this and does it frustrate you as much as it does me. I know if's only a few minutes delay and probably not worth getting worked up over. I know this doesn't apply to all men, but I bet it does to a large majority of them

I don't think men think that far ahead.

I've never noticed this happening at the Costco in my area.

I've seen many women do this. so I won't generalize.

Don't go to Costco and don't know about what men do in such a situation but what gets me here in Chicago is when getting on a bus, people (men and women) wait until they're in front of the fare box to pull out their transit card. They've been waiting for a bus for several minutes at least and are not ready to pay?? Drives me crazy!!!!

A lot of people act like it's their first time in a store . 😆

@catmama I haven't noticed that in particular, but I have noticed behavior I think is similar. My observation is that when driving men (the men I know) brake only at the last minute. For example, if the car is coming up to a red light or stop sign, most women I know will slow down somewhat in advance and then brake to a more gentle stop. The men that I know do not slow down in advance, even tho they can clearly see what's ahead of them, and they do a more abrupt stop the last second. Just weird to me that so many men I know drive the same way - including my nephew! It is similar, don't you think?

I have been behind both men and women who do this..so, not gender related. Lots of people seem surprised when they have to show a card or pay for something...duh??
I was at Costco yesterday and there were a lot of men there by themselves. Many seemed impatient and rude. They bumped into me, left their carts against the freezer cases so I couldn't open the door without moving them and walked away to just grab something, and they move fast and have a get out of their way attitude.
The place was packed. I have bad knees and don't walk fast. I was shopping at a few places and was in pain by the time I got there...my last stop, I was ready to just go off on the next person who annoyed me. I didn't, but I was ready to.
Maybe next time, I will get a handicap scooter with shopping basket attached and run them over...just kidding.

I think that men don't shop much, especially for groceries, so they don't play the game as well as women. But it's always fun to go to the supermarket on Saturday and Sunday and see so many men. Like fish out of water.
