Men will even slander a female if she wasn't in photos and she denied a request or two for a date or if she doesn't have any interest in a male. They will spread the word that she's a sl*t, a hore, etc., which is all bunk.
Those female marines elected to have their photos taken. They were not children either nor clueless about the world. Seems they have themselves to blame. I don't like that their photos were shared but that is what males do. I don't like that they were threatened either as it reminds me of the past when se*ual harassment was common place. Women/females have to stop being dirty girls - period.
If you read the thread or the news stories, you would know that some women did not consent to having photos taken.
PS - it absolutely is not "what males do."

@Mj12 I am not arguing with you. It is simply my take from many experiences with the behavior of males. Males who do not participate in such things just let things slide and don't step up to the plate to stop the nonsense.

The nude photos given to men where gifts and became the property of the recipients. Those women have themselves to blame.
Men who took photos without the knowledge or consent of the women should be prosecuited.

Maybe it's just me, but in this day and age I am astounded by how much nudity still bothers so many people. Yes, I can understand and respect those who wish not to have their nude bodies exposed without consent, but the public reaction to this whole thing is what I'm amazed at.

First of all in this day & age where people are constantly on social media it's irresponsible to be taking nude photos. That being said, it's morally & legally wrong to photograph someone without consent & or post their pix without their permission!!
I hate the theory that boys will be boys!! How would they feel if someone posted pictures of their wives, girlfriends, sisters or mother's???
The people responsible for posting & viewing these photos should be sought out court martialed & jailed!! There were thousands of men of various ranks who were members of this exclusive website. They should be called out & humiliated the way these women were!! Let their loved ones see how classless they are!!
Those who reported the website were bullied & their families threatened!! The servicemen involved in this embarassing mess should be dishonorably discharged for bringing shame on the military!!

I understand what you're saying, but just HOW do you get everyone's permission whenever you snap your camera or phone? People can be in the background or sitting at a table together ... are we supposed to carry legal disclaimer sheets with us at all times and make everyone sign them? IMO, it's not practical ... or possible.
I DO think the military needs to come down hard on these guys, and their names and faces made public at their court martials.
Unless the public complains LOUDLY to both the military and our government representatives, I doubt much will happen. The military will just do nothing and assume it will blow over and people will forget about it. IMO, we shouldn't let that happen.

and now.....this......
Army brass, led by future Joint Chiefs head Martin Dempsey, gave amorous general a pass.
Dempsey, then the commander of the Army's Training and Doctrine Command, eliminated the portion of a substantiated inspector general's report of adultery by Maj. Gen. John Custer, who was allowed to retire at his rank with no reduction in his pension benefits. Dempsey then went on to oppose proposed legislation that would have limited the roles of commanders in cases of sexual assault and harassment in the military, which had exploded in the first half of the decade. The inspector general's report was uncovered by USA TODAY through the Freedom of Information Act. |

Just because a woman takes a photo does not give anyone the right to publish it without her consent. That is blaming the victim for something she has not agreed to.
The same as saying she asked for it.
What is the law on this? Is it illegal to post any photo of a person without their consent? A photo in a very revealing bathing suit? A naked photo she posed for?
I know it is illegal to post photos of naked children - regardless of how innocent and who's doing it. But I honestly don't know what the law is on a photo taken of someone who posed for the photo and then later objected to anyone else seeing it.
As noted in some of the articles I've seen, it's probably easier to come down on the officers for conduct unbecoming, but for the enlisted - unless porn is now illegal to view or if the photos were taken without the woman's knowledge, I'm wondering what the law is.

Gee, get the facts right and don't always be so quick to jump the gun and blame women. Where is your outrage for the men who hid and took secret photos?
Do you have a cite for that? This one says the photos were posed:
