Yes, it does. I have been following this storm from the beginning, and concerned about those in its path. Prayers for all affected, and for those rescuing and helping.

Re: Loss of Life in the Bahamas

To minimize one person's distress by comparing it to another's greater travail is insensitive and judgmental.

So if a person loses one child and another loses two, the former should feel less entitled to their grief?

The fact is that what happens to me and those I know and for whom I care matters much more to me than what happens to strangers.

Re: Loss of Life in the Bahamas

I hate cold weather and snow with a passion but would I take the chance of a weather event like a Cat 5 hurricane or a Calif wildfire? No thanks, I'll withstand this northern weather.

Can't express how sorry I feel for these ppl, to be sucked under by water would be horrible.

@Cakers3 I totally get your point about trvial complaints .

@JaneMarple  First, my comment was more about timing than preparation. And second, if no amount of preparation helps, why bother?

God rest their souls. It is such a heartbeaking thing. It shows just how much  some  people are still at the mercy of something like the weather...

Re: Loss of Life in the Bahamas

I think it is safe to say we would agree that "trivial" defines most complaining at least that you read about here not that it doesn't matter significantly to the person directly affected.  A barking dog woke me from a deep sleep this morning, I could complain here about my very real irritation, it has nothing to do with any other thing going on in this world.  We all know that about ourselves, I think.  I'm not even sure what the point was other than whatever you are upset about, it could be worse.  I think we know that, too.  Even tragedies could become worse tragedies.  It gets wearisome.  We are exhausted from so many tragedies and they aren't likely to stop anytime soon.

@Free2be   I think if people took more time to have an "attitude of gratitude" we just might see some improvement in the world.

I'm not going to get into all of that on this thread; my point was to show this precious child.

I thank all who responded and I'm not going to return to this thread.  As usual, something to think about turned into accusations of snark and comparisons regarding whose tragedy is more important.
