@songbird  What a precious baby!  Elephants are so special and majestic, I love them.  Thank you so much for your post.  So happy she's being cared for.

Reminds me of this photo I saw yesterday of a Great Horned Owl's legs:

Are all owls built like that? I think my mind just got blown. Somehow I imagined them being like penguins. Illusion shattered, and I'm glad!

Thank you for this thread, @songbird.❤️   I watched the video after seeing your posts.  I found it quite moving, seeing the first images of discovery, the dedication and obvious love and compassion of those who saved this dear, beautiful creature...  tissues needed, eyes filled with tears for the wrenching loss of her mother, for the majestic spirit and heart of Kinyei and her guardians, and for the hopeful and happy outcome.

"Kinyei's Story

On 4th July 2018, a group was on a game drive in Ol Kinyei Conservancy in the Mara. They were watching a pride of Lions, an exciting and most welcome sight on safari, when they spotted something amiss: a tiny elephant calf, alone and wandering precariously close to the pride. She was skirting in and out of the bush, but as soon as the lions felt compelled, she would have made very easy prey."
