New Mexico is the second largest producer of oil and gas (after Texas) and with the increase in oil prices, we seem to be flush with cash which is quite a contrast from the usual.

Sounds fine to me.You were required to give them a certain amount of your money. Giving some of it back to you seems alright to me.

Not sure if a couple pays jointly should get twice as much back, but hey! And giving it to those that paid no taxes? Seems that would be more the job of a different department of state government.

Haven't heard about any such thing in our state. But, I would much rather that I chose how to spend my money, than someone appointed, not elected, to do so.

I live in PA and we pay the highest gas tax in the country. I sure hope we get something.

Yes. Minnesota is sitting on a 9.3 BILLION DOLLAR SURPLUS. Our current Governor wants to provide $500 rebates to single people and $1,000 to married couples.

That might give you some understanding of the taxes we pay!

Further, the other party is not opposed to giving taxpayers some of their money back, but they want an assurance of tax cuts moving forward.

I'm in Arizona and I actually saw a station at $4.29. Everyone else is are $4.49.

@kaydee50   Last I read the residents have to apply for the cards and there is a list of requirements to qualify.

However, the cards will be distributed by lottery.

It is a short term, very short term, fix for the lucky ones to win that lottery but these giveaways are not the solution to a bigger problem.

I haven't seen anything about any rebates offered in other ways, so far.

Good for you-but what about those who do not file state taxes where you are?

So Social Security beneficiaries who don't file state taxes are left out ??   The people who would need it the most?

The only thing I've seen here in Georgia is a waiver of the state gas tax which did nothing to significantly lower gas prices in my area at least. I got nothing other than about $0.20 a gallon discount and I can do that with my supermarket shoppers card.

I don't know about other states, but the way I understand it is Indiana residents only get the refunds if they filed taxes. Those who don't file aren't eligible. 

My husband and I get Social Security and file taxes. I don't know the circumstances why someone wouldn't file.
