Too extreme for me. I did a moderate low carb diet for awhile. Strictly 150 TOTAL carbs/day. Lost about 20 lbs. But, I didn't totally eliminate anything from my diet. I just worked things around so that I could occasionally have a favorite. The one thing I learned though is that low carbers are continually looking for a suitable replacement for their favorite high carb foods. That's where a lot of the NET carb counts come in, trying to find foods with fake sugars and other ingredients that they can subtract from the total carb count. I also learned that none of those substitutes everybody raves about taste like the real thing. That's not for me. So, I found what works for me. I don't lose weight, but also don't gain any outside of the 5lb range I fluctuate in. I don't deny myself anything. And the doctor says my labs are great.

I have been Keto for 2 years . I lost a lot of weight at 54 years old . I had a Terrible menopause'. Keto helped me get hormones under control. So many benefits other than weight loss. For me not being hungry was the game changer . It's amazing what fat does for your diet . I am strick keto ,eat clean . It's cheaper and easier than you think.

Fatty diets are hard on your organs
liver. Heart. Also your arteries.
Excessive proteins are not the best for the kidneys.
Mediterranean diets and daily excercise is a healthy way to live/diet.
but keto is a fad. Not fantastic for long term.
you may wish to research it on Mayo Clinic or with a qualified dietician.

Of course I have thoughts, lots of them. I have seen this word in several places, even on products in my home(that are not mine). I have no idea exactly what it means, and no desire to look into it.
What I am getting from what I do hear and read, it is yet another way to lose weight(fat? Beats me) is it easily, or is it fast? Each new version of weight loss always touts 1 or the other, some even both.
My thoughts for anyone that wants to lose fat from their body, assuming they are healthy per their doctor, and have no specific underlying conditions effecting fat loss? The tried and true method that works every time, for most, excluding those with any conditions mentioned above!
Eat less/Move more.
Lots of other thoughts, but I haven't authored my book yet

"release weight."
Never heard it put that way, not even on biggest loser show. How about what most people really want, "drop fat weight"?

@MoonieBaby Did you know when we are born, we’re born in the state of ketosis (using fat for fuel)? These claims you have stated have been shown to be untrue. Healthy fats do not negativity affect the heart. Keto does not recommend excessive protein either so it’s doubtful you understand the diet. There are knowledgeable cardiologists who actually recommend it. High glycemic sugars are much worse and damaging for us. Furthermore, the ketogenic diet is far from a fad. It was discovered nearly100 years ago and originated as a treatment for children with epilepsy.

Completely agree , so many mis conceptions out there about this diet. Which ever way of eating you choose to loose weight , a calorie deficit is a must .
