I wonder if people will be wanded and need to go through metal detectors at the Cleveland convention?

It's too late.  The damage is already done and probably will continue.  Now innocent people suffer.  Our freedom to protect ourselfs has been taken away.  I feel like we've been thrown to the wolves.

"It's a different world" is not news to me.  We here in this country found that out on 9/11/01.

I just go about my business.  Ive always been vigilant, counting the rows to the exit on airplanes, looking for unattended bags, etc when I'm traveling by train, or in shopping malls.

Since I don't have any expectation that the person next to me is not armed, I have to just live my life, until we start to rethink our obsession with guns.

I actually remember thinking yesterday, thank goodness my parents aren't here to have to go through this. My dad even at one point one day said something to that effect. (That was due to his religious beliefs).

For some things, probalby it's a different world - but then it's supposed to be.

I remember my history and well and so should everyone else.  Many Native Americans were slaughtered and killed in the past just to take their land and just to kill them, yet it wasn't considered terrorism.  50 is a small number compared to the many that were killed in the past.

@Pearlee,

I think that we now, who may not have been in NY at that time, it's just really sinking in. You know how people can say, things happen to other people and they don't think it (bad stuff) will happen to them?  I think reality has set in. The horridness of things that go on now, are unbelievable. I think it's just really sinking in about the reality of it all. It's horrible.

I don't think most people living in this country can/could grasp this sort of horrificness ever happening here. I sure didn't. It's so scary. JMHO.

@qualitygal  That may be true for you, but not me (as in your "we").   I've been in the midwest the entire time and it did sink in for me on 9/11.  Plus there is tightened security everywhere that has affected all of us, esp. when traveling.

There was a terrorist arrest even in my city here in the midwest a few years ago and a recent "lone-wolf" attack too (received only minimal national publicity).
