  • Wow. Its nice here. I'm assuming you will be renting a beach house? A few years ago we had gone to garnered park in east Greenwich several times and I came home with a bucket of clams right out of the water. My mil made spaghetti and clams and stuffed clams. Deciduous.

@Junebug54

I didn't realize it's so soon.  We went by it this past week & no tents were set up yet, unusual.  (not sure if you know the smaller fair area, where the highway splits .. either towards the Brookfield area or go around the curve on the higher Rte. 20 bridge.  The left side there was full of vendors & customers, already open.

Do you plan on attending?

I'm in Southeastern Connecticut.  For food:  Big Y or BJ's Warehouse.  Our new Costco doesn't seem to have much - JMO - maybe if I had a family I would like it better.  We don't have upscale stores here - basically only T.J. Maxx, Marshall's and HomeGoods. I went to HG yesterday for the first time in 16 months, and bought nothing.  At the casinos are some name brand stores, but I don't shop there.  I have transitioned to buying online for almost everything except food, and even that I order from QVC.

Oh ya......Foxwoods outlets! I do love those for sure! I think the outlets at Foxwoods Are much better than the stores at Mohegan Sun.  Mohegan Sun stores are just regular retail, though they are lovely. I like the Michael Kors, UGG, and Talbots outlet at Foxwoods.

I prefer everything about Foxwoods to Mohegan Sun.  I love all the windows and light coming through and views of the beautiful woods outside, and the outlets and restaurants.  Mohegan is like a big cave.  JMO.

PS - if you are visiting near the Mystic area, Olde Mistick Village is a must for browsing and shopping.  So much cool stuff and great places to eat.

I'm from W.  MA.

If you love antiques, the very huge Brimfield Fair will be open this year (1st  opening I believe is Memorial Day (however, I've read not as many vendors, due to you know what!)  Try googling it.  I think they open 3x/year.  Gets super crowded & has food vendors as well.  It's very popular.  My sister has attended & purchased a few times.  Also, you can check out Sturbridge, MA which is about another 15-20 minutes further on Rte. 20 from Brimfield.   Good luck with your shoppinbg experience.

I live in Spfld. & Brimfield is about 40 min. drive from here.

I LOVE Sturbridge! It's gorgeous there! Oh yeah, I forgot about Brimfield. They didn't have that last year, because of the pandemic. Years ago I went to Brimfield antiques.....it was AMAZING! It would take you days to go through there. I love antique jewelry, and they had some of the most beautiful pieces, as well as lovely furniture. Thank you so much for reminding me! It is definitely on my to do list.

I live on the east coast of MA, and I love the Wrentham Country Store . It is mostly vintage merchandise at very reasonable prices. There are other Country Stores in the area, some more “country” than others. It’s  enjoyable to see items that you’ll never see in a chain store. I also frequent the Amish Contry Shoppe In Dartmouth. A Google search will bring you to their Facebook sites with pictures.

Is the country store in Wrentham near the outlets? I went to the outlets a couple of years ago, and I think it was the no tax day. It was absolutely mobbed. But loads of fun! I have not heard of the Amish country shops in Dartmouth. That is something I will need to check out as well. I've taken a screenshot of your response, and will give it to my husband to map it out for us. We are always looking for a weekend day trips. Something unusual, something fun, and something country is always our favorite.  ❤️

I live north of Boston, MA in a city near Salem, MA. There are many antique shops and shops to find unique and handmade items from Salem and all along the coast in Marblehead, Gloucester, Rockport, Newburyport, Ipswich, Rowley and Essex.

Also you will find many wonderful restaurants with fresh seafood, especially lobster and clams.

There are Sunday flea markets with antiques and collectibles.

One flea market is at Todd Farm in Rowley in Rte. 1A.

You will also find many inns an B & B's to stay at.

Splendid ideas! And, of course, we love the ocean, so these are wonderful choices. I haven't been there in forever. It's time! Thank you! ❤️

I'm from MA but I can't answer that question.  MA is state, not a city or town.  Also, what type of shopping are you asking about?

Country stores, handmade items, something out of the ordinary. We try to support a small local businesses as much as we can.
