Re: Is There Anything You Collect?

I have a small collection of antique handkerchiefs. Very pretty and delicate with flowers and lace. I bought one at an antique store years ago and the rest kind of found me.  I have about 15.

@MoJoV -

those sound so nice!

My grandmother had lots of pretty handkerchiefs and we used to live near lots of wonderful 2nd hand stores that had these beautiful irish handkerchiefs and linens. I fell in love and have about 3 now, one with delicate shamrocks and another with intricate cutouts.

I share your appreciation of them!

I have some of my Mother's handkerchiefs from when she was young in the thirties. So delicate and beautiful.

When we started working in music industry I started collection of tour jackets backstage passes.  When we go to live shows it is fun to wear an older tour jacket e.g. Stones, Springsteen, etc.,  not that we can at present though.

Re: Is There Anything You Collect?

Royal Copenhagen Christmas plates.

My grandmother was from Denmark, and my father and step-mother visted the factory and brought back my first plate.

I now have 30 lined up high on the wall from kitchen into family room.

One of our sons has always loved them, so he started his own

smaller grouping when his first child was born.  I suspect he

might want these down the road, but maybe not.

I agree with so many here who have said collectables are often just donated or end up in garage or estate sales.

At this point, I am TRYING to get rid of things...it's been tough,

but still TRYING.

I don't although my husband might agree with the "dust" poster LOL. My daughter however collects Beauty and Beast figurines. She has a beautiful collection and a good portion have increased in value some going way more than I would have thought. Many of her items are limited editions. They never did make many Beauty and Beast items. When she had cancer at age 3 that was her FAVORITE movie and has maintained being her favorite. I started collecting stuff for her and she kept going. She even does a Beauty and Beast Christmas tree in one of her rooms at Christmas.

I did collect teapots but I have enough. My biggest collection is Pez dispensers. I have close to 700. My grown kids have already told me they want them.
