Just as a FYI - from what the supv I spoke with - face to face for all the good it did me - told me, the scanning and bundling is done at the major hubs, not small local POs, and all the local delivery people do is put the already bundled mail in their trucks. If this is true, it's the hubs/major sorting centers and the people who do the sorting, scanning and bundling that are to blame for most of the screw-ups, not the poor local peeps who have to deal with receiving things already screwed up. Wish I knew if that was accurate. But you could ask 10 different supv at 10 different POs & probably get 10 different answers, so who/what to believe?

This thread gave me the courage to sign up - I got an e-mail and wanted to make sure it wasn't a scam.  So it should be starting soon, but I wonder if it is really useless.  Like someone said they don't scan all your e-mail so who knows.  Also my boyfriend lives with me so I am not sure if just my mail will be scanned or his as well.  Overall the USPS sucks and this may be a last ditch effort to try and convince people they are on top of things.  I try to make as much of my mail paperless as possible as I am concerned about misdelivered mail and identity theft or even just nosey neighbors.  Unfortunately I have to get my prescriptions mail ordered or pay more money so those come USPS.  Earlier this year a neighbor comes to my door with my envelope ripped open apologizing saying they were expecting a similar looking package and didn't check the address label first.  So he saw all the medications I was taking.  I guess nothing TOO embarassing but still my personal business.  Luckily nothing narcotic or "relaxing".  Like the lady earlier in the thread I complained to my local PO and get the big NOTHING in response.  So I have litle hope for them.

Fedex Delivery Manager is something similar and I have found value in that.

I tried to register at that site.  No matter how outrageous or off the wall I made a user ID, it told me it was already in use.  I gave up.

@Kachina624,  Did you try your email address as the username?   That's how I registered, a long time ago, for the "My USPS" account, and your email address will be unique so it should be accepted (if it's not accepted, maybe you already created an account with your email address?).   Best of luck to you!   It's a far-from-perfect system, but I've found it helpful for tracking.

@dooBdoo  I tried email and a bunch of other and it wouldn't take any of them.  I thought I might already be registered since I've often used the "hold mail" feature.  It's okay, I really don't care.

Further fun with the USPS - I just received a PBS monthly mag that I should have gotten at the end of August. The address PBS used is 100% correct. There is a USPS label pasted on it that says "Unable to Forward/For Review."

And I have made not a single change of any kind - except signing up for the Informed Delivery.

At your own risk, people 😡

Now, they're doing something different yet again hopefully I, by not, signing up for it won't get it.

Now, they want to send you an email confirming this and that. I don't want that because hubbo will see it. He doesn't know anything about "informed" anything and I want to keep it like that. I throw out half the mail I get because he will send money to all kinds of scams.

I just want to be able to go to informed with the link I type in that only I have memorized, but, if they start hitting your email then old nosy will see it and want to know what that is, etc.

I didn't opt in with this new brain child they can't leave nothing alone you know. Hopefully, they won't overide me and do it any way.

One time I had to run to the transfer place to stop a payment to Nigerians because he thought if he mailed them money , they, in turn would reward him with a big cash pay off.   So, don't anybody say I'm being mean, blah, blah. He'll give our life savings away if I don't guard the gate.

Re: Informed Delivery USPS

[ Edited ]

LOVE, LOVE informed delivery!!!  I am usually notified each morning by 8am what is coming.  It's wonderful knowing what is coming ahead of time, especially if I'm on the look out for something.  My mail is not delivered until later afternoon typically so now I don't have to wait around for the mail if I know ahead of time whether something important is coming that day or not.  Bravo for a great, free service.

For those of you having issues holding your mail, print out a copy of the confirmation and highlight the dates. Place it in your mailbox so if the carrier has mail he will make sure to hold it from then on.
