That is simply your opinion @goldensrbest Look around you not everybody agrees. Tattoos are a part of pop culture. They do not define a person.

Also, you may want to consider that tattoos (and piercings btw) can have negative health consequences. Just adding that to help you shift your mindset so you don't feel jipped. Hope that makes sense.
@CritterKeeper Just wanted to add that unless you find an outlet to do on a regular basis that addresses your need to express your individuality and creativity (ie painting classes, jewelry making, fashion design, etc), I don't think one tattoo is going to be anything more than a fleeting thing before you're searching/wanting something else.

@ThinkingOutLoud Where did you come up this this theory? She needs an outlet? She wants a tattoo!

In the scope of what can happen to people in life, it doesn't seem like not getting a tattoo is a difficult thing to do for someone you love.
Talk about respect, I wouldn't do something that put me in a bad light to my husband. To me, that's just being an adult.

@CritterKeeper You are definitely not being selfish. If you were doing something that would directly affect him negatively then I would say maybe think about it but this has no real negative effective on him and he is the selfish one. Would he not do something you did not want him to do? I am sure there are far worse things he has done over the years that you overlooked. I would be resentful if I was not "allowed" to do something or given the silent treatment if I did. That shows immaturity on his part!
I would talk to him about what it would mean to you and if he really cares at all for you he should want you to be happy.

I believe most of us want our spouse to find us attractive, be proud of us and proud to be seen with us. What you want will be a reminder everytime he sees them that, knowing he finds them trashy, you don't care that you will appear trashy to him. If you had tattoos when you and your husband met, would he have found you attractive, asked you for a date, married you?

I don't think this is the hill HE should die on but that being said, you do have two, so he compromised already. It might be your turn now, though I love and respect your desire to get a tattoo to symbolize your love for animals.
