And if they went and fetched it for me, brought it in, hooked it up, put the gasoline in, fired it up....
I'd put a hot dinner on for them, too.
He did all of that! Bless his heart. I took him out to lunch and told him he could choose anything on the menu that his heart desired.
@SilleeMee I believe that's all he would accept. Most friends won't expect payment. One friend borrowed a riding lawn mower and the owner said "that will be $25. The borrower was shocked and gave him the money then the owner said he was only joking, but of course he accepted the money.

You know that thing about going a mile; then you should go an extra mile.
You have a good friend and God will bless that person.
Matthew 5:41.

I would not only reimburse them, but I would add a personalized gift as a token of my appreciation.😊

There has to be an agreement before hand as to whether this is a free loan or payment is expected.

I was in a dire situation when I needed a generator. There wasn't really any time to be discussing any kind of arrangements. We just did what had to be done asap. There was no time to waste. I will pay my friend back for helping me in one way or another. Money will surely help out, especially now...it's Christmastime! ![]()

I would offer to pay, but I'd be a little surprised if he accepted. I'd be prepared to cheerfully pay up though.
If he said not necessary I would not push it. Many men (not all certainly), I find, get a lot of gratification out of getting the chance to save someone who's in real trouble. So you could be doing him a favor by letting him be your hero, as opposed to your equipment rental agent. That dynamic shouldn't be abused or overused, of course.

What a nice thing to do. People can be so kind.
Could you have it all tuned up and ready for the winter for him?
Or is that something he would be able to do himself?
I’m sure you will think of just the right thing. A very good bottle of Scotch perhaps?
