I checked the ingredients list on my Irish Spring Deodorant bar of soap and do not see any of those products listed. I also have a doctors appt. and plan to ask to be tested to see if I am allergic to this chemical. So for now, my Philosophy shower gel will be put aside and I will use the Irish Spring bar of soap until I find another shower gel.

Yes, I like Dr. Bronner's products. I need to find a website that has recipes to make liquid hand soap and the breakdowns of water to product for cleaning etc.
Your OP has turned into a wonderful discussion.
@butterfly123 I've used Dr. Bronner's soap in the past and liked it. We'll work on those recipes!
I also bought some Kroger's Simple Truth hand soap, which has mostly organic and non-GMO ingredients. And it happens to be on sale! I'm already using the dish soap. Sure hope these products work out.
Yes, we do have a great discussion going, and that's how we learn! ![]()

@butterfly123, @tends2dogs Sorry, got mixed up about who had made the recent Dr. Bronner's purchase!

No problem. I thought you were reading my mind as I was thinking about Dr. Bronner's this morning!
I wish we lived in an area with a Kroger's.

so I would imagine that one would be LESS likely to find this in bar soaps, and more likely to find it in liquid soaps?
Over the last few months I Developed a terrible rash and came to find my body wash contained OT (last night.i checked after reading this)..Only non liquid soap I had on hand was a small hard soap from a hotel stay...so I used it this morning..
I amthinking that in the case of the Cottonelle TP it must be used in the paper making process?
Thank you SO much for this!
@Mothertrucker I'm certainly no expert, but just from my experience, the bar soaps I have don't have MI, but that's not to say it isn't in any bar soaps. I have noticed it in some liquid body washes. I can tell you I've had good luck with the Dove Sensitive Skin and Cetaphil bar soaps.
As for the Cottonelle TP, we'll ask those who have reacted to it. I've seen complaints on the internet and references to the bleaching of the paper re: that brand and others and even more complaints about the wet wipes.
My problems have been with my face and hands.
So sorry you're having problems, but check your body lotions and laundry supplies, also. MI is in various products, including some house paint. Hope you heal soon!

Regular, non moist toilet paper does not need a biocide, which is what this ingredient in so. The reason it is in wipes is because they are moist and can attract bacteria. The bleaching process requires alot of chemicals and you make react to those chemicals so simply choose a non-bleached toilet paper.
Here are actual scientific studies (for those interested) regarding dermatitis issues associated with the preservative in the moist wipes and just general studies regarding the contact dermatitis:

@saltysails I will be really interested to hear what your doctor says and your allergy test reveals. The derm I saw offered testing, but at that time, I wasn't aware of MI. I decided to put testing on hold for now. I'll also be interested to hear if taking a break from your shower gel makes a difference.
If physicians aren't aware of MI reactions, maybe we can educate them! I recently showed my general physician the first website on my original post on my phone, and he agreed the photos looked an awful lot like I did, and he asked me to email him those links. He was VERY interested.

@Amarica wrote:@butterfly123, I'm so glad you were able to determine your problem. Sounds like another miserable ordeal.
After tossing my "natural" laundry detergent, I replaced it with a "Free and Clear" mainstream brand. It does NOT have the ingredients on the label, and so far, I'm not able to find them online, either. I'm going to check out powders, rather than liquids, because I'm presently having a relatively minor, but itchy and swollen, flare-up. And I've discovered MI is in some dental products. There's no end to it!
Yes, I have been trying to find Tide with Bleach Alternative online and though Tide has a website, this is certainly not addressed directly tht I could see..Does anyone know?
