I think it's unfair of retailers to expect their workers to work on Thanksgiving Day. I believe you should be able to spend the day with family and friends, there will be plenty of time to get the holiday shopping in. As for Black Friday, I have never taken part in it, never will. I am not fighting anyone for the last whatever, it's not worth it to me. I'll wait for Cyber Monday to take care of my holiday shopping.

There are millions of people who do their everyday jobs on all Holidays...they work at gas stations, restaurants, movie theaters, grocery & drug stores, airports & all forms of public transportation, hotels, sports arenas, emergency services, do I need to go on? We count on them being there for our everyday wants-needs on the holidays & they are. Why in the world should retailers be any different? It's sad that retailers are closing for Thanksgiving, many employees count on the overtime pay-bonuses & volunteer for it, my granddaughter is one of them. Where you see shame others see opportunity to earn.

The Black Friday deals are usually publicized well in advance....I usually shop online Thanksgiving evening or whenever the sales prices start. I hate going to stores on Black Friday. Why fight crowds for parking spots and mrchandise when you can get the same deals online? Thanksgiving Day seems to be one of the only family-centered holidays that hasn't been overshadowed by the stores that will be closed....at least they wait until Friday! I enjoy visiting with family on Thanksgiving...food and football at our house.

@SpurtI guess I should actually read the whole post before I give an opinion. Maybe that would be a good topic for a post,"Who actually reads all of a very long post before they give their opinion". LOL

@ShowMe How right you are, how sweet of you to call it to my attention.

Scanning the list of companies closed are always closed on thanksgiving. Now if they were on the not open for black Friday list, that would be news.

It is amazing at how many are commenting on Black Friday when this post is about Thanksgiving DAY...smh

Like others have said, these stores are closing on Thanksgiving Day - it's not about Black Friday. If people want to shop all day on Friday, more power to them, but please, there's nothing that people just have to shop for on Thanksgiving Day that can't wait for one day. Same thing for Christmas Day.

@blackhole99. The second sentence of the op's post stated it was Thanksgiving Day closures.
