And I don't really have any exciting components with which to make one.
What is your favorite sandwich? Mine is one out of the past- a rich, overflowing, authentic New Orleans muffalletta. The Mid-City clinic where I used to work was surrounded by great little N.O. family restaurants and groceries. A corner restaurant often provided our lunches, which were heavenly:
I know it was the savory, tangy olive salad in the muffaletta that was the big draw for me--- love olives!
Now in the present, our town has a little coffee house/bistro a few blocks from here. My favorite from there is a veggie delight, with artichoke hearts, onions, cheese and a little garlic. They add roast chicken if you request.
For home made sandwiches, I like a simple toasted tomato sandwich, in season. No bacon, or even lettuce is necessary. Just a premium, deep red, vine-ripened tomato, a little butter and good bread. My Dad taught me about that one. Must be a Canadian/British thing-- most people think a plain tomato sand. is bland and bonkers! But we loved them...
My Mother made great, dainty egg salad sandwiches, with little flecks of chives and a savory little kick.
Your favorites?

@Oznell This looks like my favorite Italian sandwich from Panera Bread. It's the best sandwich next to Subways BMT. Alon with french onion soup. Just a little piece of heaven. I must get this lunch soon.

I don't often eat a sandwich, but do enjoy a BLT and a Ham & Swiss on Rye with mustard and lettuce. Hmmm. I may have to get a sandwich for lunch!

@Oznell OH yeah! At the counter at City Grocery with a sandwich and a root beer! LOL!!! Heaven!
Also: a fried soft shell crab sandwich; an oyster or shrimp po' boy; turkey, Swiss cheese, and veggies with hot pepper jelly; bacon, AVOCADO and tomato; and a garlic bologna, white bread and miracle whip!
And in Oklahoma you can get a fabulous chicken fried steak sandwich at a few places--most notably in Noble Oklahoma!

My favorite is tuna salad on a hard roll. Tuna salad should contain just a little chopped celery. This is how it is made in NYC and any decent deli or coffee shop makes it. None of that abomination containing relish or eggs.
