Love hot pastrami and reubens!

Re: IT'S NATIONAL SANDWICH DAY

I don't eat a lot of sandwiches because of the bread but I do prefer a plain ole sloppy joe or beef brisket w/ lots of BBQ sauce.

Chicken salad on any pale bread, and tuna salad on white toast. Plus grilled cheese on white bread, made with butter, and cream of tomato soup. Takes me home again to winter days when we could walk home for lunch from school and our mother might have that for us as a warm alternative to PBJ.

For NY deli choices, I'll take a kaiser roll piled high with thin slices of Muenster cheese or tongue on rye with mustard.

Re: IT'S NATIONAL SANDWICH DAY

After a long search, I decided that the critical element is the bread.  Makes or breaks the deal.

Re: IT'S NATIONAL SANDWICH DAY

Oh, boy, perusing that list of people's favorites did the trick--  I had to pull together a sandwich for lunch.  Some tuna mixed with canned salmon, mayo, a little Tabasco, black pepper, etc, etc.,  and my sandwich craving was quelled....

Re: IT'S NATIONAL SANDWICH DAY

@Still Raining   I agree with you.  I am gluten free and buy gluten free bread, but it isn't the same.

I would love to have any sandwich on real bread...even bologna.

I really miss a good Reuben or Rachael or pastrami on rye...A good sandwich with Italian meats with olive salad..or tuna salad.  I really miss my favorite seeded rye bread.  I haven't had gluten in 36 years..sigh.

Re: IT'S NATIONAL SANDWICH DAY

I'm a big fan of sandwiches which is what I eat most of the time. Love me a good hoagie and not sure if this is considered a sandwich, but a patty melt. Yum.

I love a well-prepared Reuben on dark rye.
