Happy birthday @Plaid Pants2.

Your day sounds perfect. I'm sorry your dad didn't remember your day, but you have a nice memory of a very special dinner with him.

I'm glad to hear it. You deserve it, you do a lot for your father, and I am sure he appreciates it, even if he can't always remember to show it

@Plaid Pants2- first off Happy Birthday!

I know exactly how you felt both my parents suffer from memory loss but I remember the cards and the phone calls to this day.  My dad use to call me and sing happy birthday every year-yes I was daddy's little girl even when the gray hair started coming and he use to tease me about that.  Even though I am grown and you would think it doesn't matter when that "expected treat" no longer happens it does hurt but I hold on to the memories and I have so many sometimes I have to laugh out loud when I think about them.

My dad passed away in 2013 at 89, but my mom is still hanging in there at 90.  I miss my dad everyday we had so much fun, both my parents were so lively, busy, funny and loved to travel I can't do half the things they did without taking a nap or resting somewhere.

No matter what at least you got to spend quality time with your dad and you both enjoyed each others company and pampering yourself is a bonus I do the same myself.  There is no price tag for precious memories like that.

Happy Birthday a day late...and it sounds like you did enjoy yourself and had some pampering...

Yes, it's heartbreaking when the memory loss takes away those special dates but the one thing that will remain constant is that you know your dad loves you and that you are his daughter~ that right there is special~
