Re: I Need Some Help/Recommendations

Unless you know that they are very religious, I would do exactly what you would do for anyone else.

Re: I Need Some Help/Recommendations

Check out Zingerman's in Ann Arbor.  They ship all over.  Either a gift card or some items that will hold or can be frozen.  You can ask on the phone for advice.

Re: I Need Some Help/Recommendations

Flowers and plants are not appropriate for a Jewish memorial. A gift of food is traditional as the mourners are not supposed to be cooking or serving. An Edible Arrangement would be most welcome and appropriate.

Re: I Need Some Help/Recommendations

I had a poor experience with an edible arrangement sent to me, the fruit was past ripeness and I had to throw most of it away.  The suggestion of dried fruit, nuts and chocolate or something less perishable than cut up fruit makes more sense.

Re: I Need Some Help/Recommendations

I know a lot of people like Edible Arrangements, but  I'm the opposite. Unless you know that the recipient likes a lot of fruit and that it will eaten, I wouldn't send it. DH and I received one last year and it was all we could do to eat all that fruit. And what we didn't munch on at first was left for me to find containers and refrigerator storage space.

Not everyone likes to receive cut up fruit! I feel the same about potted plants....just make a contribution to a favorite charity and I'd be happy, along with a personal note or phone call to let me know you care.
