My DH and I drove to Michigan in the fall. We had to drive through Detroit and about an hour past to get to our destination. It was a drizzly rain the entire way there. Traffic was congested but nothing horrible.
That evening when we came home, it was pouring for much of the trip. We saw 2 different accidents, both appeared to be very bad, in the opposite direction of how we were going. We were able to get through without an issue but traffic in the other direction was dead stopped for miles. One car in one of the accidents was clear up the side of an embankment/small cliff. The only thing we could think of was someone cut that car off and he swerved to avoid an accident.
I drive through a very high accident area on my way to and from work everyday. It's an intersection that leads into and out of a shopping area and people are constantly running the lights trying to turn into and out of that area and there are bad accidents there weekly, if not more than once a week.
I drive as carefully and cautiously as I can. Honestly I grip the wheel, say a prayer and go through the intersection!

Too many impatient drivers. The stores are crowded. The parking lots are a mess.
It's not even bad weather here.

I must admit that for some things, I am very fragile. The accidents really get me off balance.

I've noticed a lot of people are trying to beat the lights. That really makes me nervous. You have to be so cautious...

True. The last incident, it appears people were trying to beat the firetruck. They weigh tons!

.......or, you could be an innocent tourist in Las Vegas walking on the sidewalk and get mowed down.

My husband and I just returned from a short trip to town; paid our insurance, got gas, stopped at CVS, picked up dry cleaning, and picked up our ribeye roast at the grocery store. Traffic was busier than usual, but I realized schools were letting out early today. Traffic seemed to be moving quite well; I didn't hear any sirens while I was out and about. The only bad driving I encountered, was when I was leaving the grocery store, and a woman entered the lot thru my exit lane, when I was within 10 feet of the exit. On that back street, there is a clearly marked exit, and a clearly marked entrance to the lot, so she entered the wrong way and was in my path, until she whipped to her left into a parking spot.
Most of the time, my husband and I shop very early to avoid crowds and traffic---we are usually home before 10 a.m. I do not like to travel, or be out and about. I don't plan to be back in a grocery store until mid February.

I don't know whether they're just more memorable, but many people in large SUVs, especially Hummers, seem to be very aggressive drivers. A guy in a Hummer literally tried to steal my parking space as I was backing into it. I didn't let him get away with it and he was quite verbally abusive. He was obviously an egomaniac, and I wondered how his wife or GF, who was sitting next to him, tolerated him. Maybe these drivers figure because they have a large, expensive car they can push everyone around. This seems to apply even to women, in my experience. I drive a tiny, old Toyota, but I am as truculent as any bully in a Hummer when I choose to be.
He was parking outside a medical building. If he'd just told me a nice sob story I might have let him park there. There was a garage for him to use right across the street, but I guess he didn't want to pay to park.

@RedTop Wow Red Top, not until February. That's some discipline. I try to stock up with my little freezer but I do have to venture out to get some fresh fruit and produce now and then.

@Karnerblue, the very same thing happened to us on the way home from the bank yesterday- after my husband laid on the horn and looked at her, she gave us the "look" like it was our fault. He believes she was looking down texting. I don't know what's wrong with people, don't they drive anymore or has the inside of a vehicle become their family room or office?
