So how is everyone doing with their coloring books?

I bought markers at Hobby Lobby - I like using colored pencils much better. I think the end result is nicer. However, the color on the markers is brighter. i am learning and enjoying. I took my books to sewing club and several ladies colored a picture instead of sewing. We all agreed it was fun to color and chat and not have to worry about making a mistake on a sewing project.

I've been coloring for awhile now and continue to love it.  However, I much prefer markers (I use a variety of those).  My favorite things to color are mandelas and paisleys, although I do have Anna Griffin's books and enjoy those also.  Truth be told, I probably have enough coloring books in the wings to last me the rest of my life!  A very, very relaxing hobby.

I received a coloring book and colored pencils from a friend as a birthday gift.  I tried, but just don't seem to have the artistic temperament necessary to enjoy this activity.  Will pass them on to a local nursing home.

Recently a friend gave me 3 coloring books and 72 color pencils for my birthday.  I loved coloring but I am having a difficult time getting into these adult books. The pencils are too hard and the color isn't saturated.  They also need frequent sharpening as the designs are so intricate.  I've tried markers and they bleed.

Give me a child's coloring book and a box a Crayolas.

I love it!

I had DH buy me the HSN set for Christmas.  I took the pocket book and the pencils to try before Christmas.

I bought the Crayola pencils for more variety but don't like them at all.  So then I bought an Art Loft set from Michael's. They are much better.

I like the symmetrical designs better. It's easier for me to color.   I hope it get better at the other ones.

My sister coloring books for our Sneaky Santa gift exchange.  I may steal that if I don't have the books already.

Re: So how is everyone doing with their coloring books?

Further to my earlier post, I use a variety of markers and gel pens.  I don't worry about bleed-through, since I always remove the page from the book and place it over a page protector and clip it all to a clipboard.  I have gel pens in a variety of "finishes" - regular, metallic, glitter.  I mix everything!  I like to use "bits" of glitter accents on some of my "artwork" to enhance the look.  I, too, found that I did not like the color saturation I was (un)able to get with pencils....and I invested in some very good ones.  I guess that colored pencils just aren't my thing for this hobby.

Last year I got a Canadian Ted coloring book from my friend.

I wonder if anyone actually colored in the pages????

My mother recently came to visit and brought her coloring book.  I tried one picture.  It's a lot of work and very tiring.  I think the book she has is too detailed.  She seems to enjoy it though.

Colored pencils give a certain look, and you can shade with them.  But they do tire your hand more than gel markers.

My favorite books are by Sue Coccia.  She does animals of the Pacific Northwest, and the images are very interesting to color, to me, more interesting than random geometric patterns or mandelas.  The books are available at her site and elsewhere, slightly more expensive than most but worth it.

It's a relaxing pasttime.

I color or doodle while listening to a book on my iPad, otherwise I nod off 💤💤💤

I like the Prismacolor pencils and gel pens best.  My favorite book is a cat one -- sort of Laurel Burch inspired.
