I think most of have heard about the 24 year old female who mowed down innocent pedestrians on the sidewalk in Las Vegas, Nevada, with her car.  From all accounts of the witnesses, she was focused on her deed.  Now, (not that you don't watch out for yourself),

we have to be on alert for the loons driving on the street so that they don't just go bananas.

I wonder if this thread will be allowed.

We had that happen up here one Thanksgiving, IIRC, in around 1980.  She managed to kill several and was on death row but I never knew if anything happened beyond that, to her.  She had a big ol' Lincoln Continental, as I recall, and did some serious damage.

We are not promised tomorrow. You can not live your life in fear of "what if". You could have an accident inside your own home, that kils you. So what are you going to do? Stay in bed for the rest of your life?

When you live your life in fear of the "what if", then you are not living your life.

Reminded me of a recent Stephen King novel Mr. Mercedes.

I just get bothered about it all.  I am fragile on some things and even sensitive when I pass by the recent tragedies.  I know the departed souls are wondering if they've made their peace with the living, etc.

I'm withholding judgement until all the facts are in. Has the car been tested? Could the accelerator have stuck and she lost control? It seems strange that, rather then trying to escape, she called 911 and waited for the police.

In schools, on campuses,  in movie theatres, in shopping malls ... you are living in an age where all manner of things can and do happen.

let's face it, it's very scary out there.  anything can happen.  i think it's important if you have a strong spiritual faith. i think that can help you to face these things with a more peaceful state of mind than you may otherwise.

By coincedence, there was an old rerun of "Dragnet" on today about a man who did a similar thing.  He drove drunk and killed some elderly people with his car.  Had the nerve to say: "They were old and would be dying soon anyway."  He sure suffered a terrible fate in the end.
