I understand what you mean & have come to look at it this way: it gives people here the opportunity to express their thoughts on those individuals. Especially when they are/were of the same generation. I felt a bit of my youth was lost way back when John Lennon was killed, & those feelings just keep coming up - George Harrison, Davy Jones, James Brown, Roy Orbison, Don Grady, Lesley Gore, Glen Frey, David Bowie, & on & on.

I'm really not interested and don't even open these threads. You have to be a very shallow, superficial person to be so enthralled with this type of news. I couldn't care less. There are many, many more interesting people who die and we don't hear a word about it.
@Kachina624. That wind's really gotten on your last nerve, eh?

I am one of those glued to tmz. No shame here.

These are a clearly marked topics concerning celebrities deaths which most posters while they know about the deaths already, come on here to share a a memory they have of them.
I guess I will never know why someone makes a big deal about a thread with the topic clearly stated that they can easily avoid opening and skip. Now, that would be a good idea for a thread.

If it's an animal abuse story, I just drive right on by. I just can't take those into my consciousness. Even if its local news in my paper, I can't read those stories. Or those ASPCA ads. When older people die, like the celebs we read about on these threads, I may be sad that they're gone, but they generally passed peacefully. If there was torture or abuse of them involved, I wouldn't want to read that either.

I don't understand the offense, some people prefer to discuss current events as opposed to someone's issues or pets or whatever. It's no big deal imo.

You want a separate forum to announce when people have died???? Not sure why those threads are bothersome, just scroll on by.
Great idea! How about a "Dead and Dying" forum??!!
