Of course it makes sense to refuse a vaccine that's been rushed to market and not adequately vetted. That's why so many doctors and nurses, in a recent survey I read on Medscape, also said they wouldn't be vaccinated against COVID-19 when the vaccine is first available.

I get the flu vaccine because I've had influenza twice and know it's not to be trifled with. But if the so-called COVID vaccine is available before or at the same time the influenza vaccine is released, I won't get the flu shot either, because I don't trust them not to put the two together.

I don't trust big pharma or the government agencies that are supposedly looking out for us to do right by us or tell us the truth, and that's based on their past performance. That's not crazy, it's common sense.

ITA ....  I also agree about skipping a brand new vaccine.  I also refuse to take any brand new, just approved, pescription drug. They haven't gotten the "bugs" out yet.

Most of us have seen law firm commercials the likes of:  "If you took XYZ Drug and your left arm fell off, call us at 1-800-we are suing because you are entitled to money!"   My cut off is to not take any prescription drug that hasn't been on the market, in public use,  for at least 5 years.

Huh???   Nothing "crazy" about not getting a flu vaccine.   Just because something is available doesn't make it safe.  You really ought to know that by now.

ETA - Many times the flu going around is NOT the one vaccines are made for.  They guess which strain is most likely, but are often mistaken.

I see a bit of movement out of the quicksand.  Some energy.  The Rockefeller Foundation is helping 7 states get quick tests.  Only 500,000 per state but it is a beginning.

We in MI are on the list.  We know that it is relatively easy to make kits.  We just need the will and the $.

Are you suggesting there is a political agenda behind the two posts? 🤔

@EatWell  These days there is a political agenda on many posts. It's not much fun to be here anymore. There are plenty of message boards where politics is welcomed. It is not here.

@proudlyfromNJ

Agreed! There are a few posters who feel compelled to push the envelope with their political innuendo at every opportunity.  I find them to be both transparent and immature.

In case it's not abundantly clear to everyone, there is no patent on pushing the political. Both "sides" are equal partners.

I have no idea what more tests  will do to alter the status quo except drive up the case number stats. Especially since it's taking well over a week--I've heard 19 days--to get results, and if people aren't isolating until they get the results, they could be infected on any of those days. Add to that the false results, and it's a carpshoot.

I wonder if the Rockefeller Foundation would consider getting every adult in the US an N95 mask, on top of a reliable ongoing supply for HCP. THAT would brighten my day. But doing something that would actually PROTECT the citizens of this country seems to be something that no one is willing to address.

The UK is rolling out new 90 minute response testing now. There are actual real promising new developments every day. You just have to check your sources and not put all your eggs in any one basket. Just because something is announced doesn't mean it in particular will be the answer to all our problems. But simply the forward motion of so many genuine people all over the world working on Covid treatments and vaccines makes me ultimately quite optimistic. We just have to hold on.

I saw the OP as commiserating with a friend who was ‘down’. 🤷‍♀️
