Are you suggesting there is a political agenda behind the two posts? 🤔

@EatWell  These days there is a political agenda on many posts. It's not much fun to be here anymore. There are plenty of message boards where politics is welcomed. It is not here.

Very valid points on which to concentrate.

I need to focus on these points  rather than getting more down because we see and hear of individuals choosing crowds and frolicking rather than self control and constructive behavior.   Perhaps sensible behavior will set example.

I saw some energy today on the schools front.  It looks like the teachers' unions and the parents are not going to zombie-walk the innocent children and teachers into school.

Some have come up with objective stats that are required to open the schools.  We may start to pull ourselves out of this era of inaction.

I don't see any undertone in this thread 🤷🏼‍♀️

I like what Mominohio said -- limited but not stuck. I'm keeping busy with essential life stuff but my pre-covid19 life was much more enjoyable. I have days where I get impatient and feel stuck. It sounds odd, but when I get impatient I think about biographies of courageous people and tragic world events. It snaps me out of my funk. But I sure did miss that trip to Ireland in mid May! This, too shall pass and if we're fortunate, we will have better days ahead.

I totally get you.  BTW, I'm originally from MI, but now living in a rinky-dink FL county where I've watched the death poll stand at 10 for the longest time.  Six weeks later it's at 76.  Not huge numbers wise, but a big increase for a N. Central county populated with predominently retirees with no coastline, beaches, etc.  Doesn't help I have an older brother in assisted living in MI, and a terminal BIL in IL that I'll probably never see again.

I've always looked at life as not only is my glass half full, but wonder who the heck took the other half???  (Also, due to my life experiences, tend to treat unfortunate experiences with humor.)

But it's getting more difficult.  Seniors with health issues make DH & I play it safe.  But unfortunately, we can't help but emphasize with all the younger folks losing jobs, facing evictions, whether to send their children back to school, etc.  Tears me up, thinking about others facing that, no matter that we may be perceived as "fortunate" retired people.

Takes more than chirping birds to conquer these feelings.

I apologize if this brought anyone down.  But wanted others feeling the same way to know they are not alone.  Sorry so long.

I don't know if it's stuck I feel, but I do feel very frustrated.  It's that feeling I get when a situation is out of my control and I can't do anything about it!  A person just has to accept it and do the best they can.  It doesn't mean we like it or are happy about it, but we have to adapt to it.  I pray a lot and eat a lot of chocolate!  LOL!!!!   Woman Wink

I feel the same way.  Just going through the motions at this point.  However, I have to keep chugging along for my girls because if I completely lose it (like I want to), they will suffer.  There are honestly some days I don't even want to get out of bed.  I find myself crying about the most minor things and I feel like everything is falling apart around us.  We had Tropical Storm Isaias yesterday and the power is out for most of us on Long Island.  It was just another punch in the gut.  However, my husband was able to pull some strings and get our electrician here to hook up our generator to the house.  I am thankful.

The only time I ever remember feeling so helpless was during September 11th.  I was a first-year teacher in Queens at the time and we had to put on a happy face for those kids even though we could smell the smoke from the Twin Towers coming into our classrooms.  Some of us would just sit and cry in our classrooms during lunch.  It was a horrible, horrible time.

This feeling of helplessness is different though.  It seems never-ending. So many lives are in danger and we are at the mercy of others.  I just don't know much about anything anymore.  Smiley Indifferent

Agreed! There are a few posters who feel compelled to push the envelope with their political innuendo at every opportunity.  I find them to be both transparent and immature.
