Re: I Can't Bring Myself To Go In That Store

Maybe not for quite a while but I believe I could get over it!   Maybe if you try you might find you are ok with it now. Woman Happy

Yes I would.  I have had a similar situation happen  in my area and I go there all the time.  If it helps you could say a prayer of peace for the lost whenever you go there.

I can go up and down the aisles and imagine the horror of that night

I think I could shop there but I don't know why you are saying that you can go up and down the aisles and imagine the horror if you're not shopping there?   Why do you think it keeps  dwelling on your mind?   I go by a lot of stores that I have never been in.

Re: I Can't Bring Myself To Go In That Store

I don't know what I would do in your situation as nothing close to that has happened in my life. I do know that for years, I don't know maybe 30 years, I've paid attention to where exits are in whatever building I'm in. Partly because I did have work travel that took me to some sketchy areas and also we had a spate of shootings at local malls and theaters around the same time.

I try to live my life w/o freaking out about all the tragic things that happen in our country, but I do also try to have situational awareness of how to best defend myself, escape or hide. My company had on-going training on this topic due to our travel destinations & sometimes the training itself was terrifying to go through.

Do what makes you comfortable. If you have other places to shop, shop at the other places. There are still certain shopping malls I do not go to because of how dangerous I perceive them, even when there is no current logic behind my fear. :::shrug:::

@Tinkrbl44 OMGosh I thought of the same thing.  If she's in a place where the Revolutionary War, the Civil War or any other fighting took place, there's quite a possibility that lots of death took place around her.

@Lucky Charm   Battle grounds would not bother me.  Hells bells I go to the cemetary where my parents ashes are buried.
