We have a family cabin in the San Bernardino mountains and some of our neighbors are still waiting for available contractors to repair the damage from the snow of last winter.

We used to live in Ridgecrest CA, in Mojave Desert. We survived a 100 yr flood in 1984 that caused 3.5 million dollars damage. The rainfall for that flood was 2.7" in 48 hrs; they are predicting 3.9" for this event. I remember a rowboat in several neighborhoods ( think
"Night of the Living Desert" by Disney in mid 1950s.

Now with Hilary aftermath: our former hometown got between 5" &6" of water and several friends have sent me a ton of pics on FB ( including some kids being towed on bogey boards through it). Other pics were of roads turned into rivers and cars stuck with wheel wells below waterline.
