I can't believe SoCal is getting a hurricane.
Hurricanes strengthen, weaken, change course and don't listen to forecasters.
I hope Hilary veers left and heads out to sea.
I know everyone on these forums is thinking about you. Be safe.

It is my understanding that the hurricane will encounter cold water and downgrade to a topical storm before landfall near Los Angeles. It may cause flooding in Southern California. One report indicated Palm Springs could receive a year's rainfall with this storm.
I am trying to watch on radar, but my NOAA version is not showing the development as well as it does on the East Coast.

It all depends on how it tracks as it comes inland but we could get 4inches and high winds.
Potential for serious flooding in mountains and low desert and 10 inches rain?

I hope Hilary veers right and brings New Mexico some desperately needed rain. It has been months since my neighborhood had enough to wet the sidewalks. Even the weeds have died.
Have you noticed that we now have monthly weather disasters? If it's not one thing, it's another. Who would have thought one of the Hawaiian Islands would have burned up ?

Southern California is NOT getting a Hurricane. By the time it reaches the LA area it will be a minimum tropical storm There is a diffrence! The main impact will be flooding rain not wind

The Hurricane will be a troppical storm by the time it hits us. We will have heavy flooding and wind. The Meteorologist mention to think of it as the strong Santa Ana Winds that we get.
I will be staying in on Sunday and plan on taking Monday off from work. People drive like maniacs in dry conditions, add in a lot of rain, flooding, and wind.
No thank You!

These hurricanes have become so unpredicatble. Many years ago they were mostly Florida bound, never know which way they will go.

@On It NOAA has so much more information for the Atlantic coast that I'm not all that surprised they don't have a great handle for CoCal, but the flooding warnings often seem to disappear in the wind cones. I know those warnings are also becoming more accurate, but becoming is the key word for me.
