I return Amazon items with a code to ups all the time. They scan the code and take your return. Sometimes Amazon gives you a code or a return label. They have different ways of returning items depending on what the item is that you are returning. I was even given a choice of returning an item for free if I can return it to certain places or they charge $1 to return it to other places.

Larger towns have more optons, the location in my town that takes UPS only takes your package, no other service offered.

I'm lucky. Not that I do a lot of returns but there is a Kohl's about two blocks from me that I return things to. Also, there is a drop off box about a mile from here that I used to use. But for Kohl's, I scan the barcode with my phone and the clerk at the store scans from it.

They make life a lot more difficult for themselves. It's not a badge of honor to not have a cell phone.

They're probably also the ones that don't order from Amazon.
There are a few.

Why would it matter if the UPS store is in a small town or a large city? It's the same national company. Makes no sense. As someone else said, have you called and specifically asked for this information??
I was in a very small town that didn't even have a UPS store. But I goggled and Amazon returns could be made at a local little pharmacy, of all places. They scanned the code and off it went....and they were incredibly nice and friendly to boot!

@Mom2Dogs when checking to see where you want to drop off the return, there is also a box for label and also for package. Wonder if the folks are checking those boxes?
Was there another place you can take the return? For me, there are about four places and I always checked Khols but now I check UPS because it's closer.

Last time I did a return, I had an option of the QR code or print a label. I chose print a label and took it to Kohl's. That has been my experience.
