My only personal rule: Shoot me first if I ever suggest a 55 and over only community or I say something about joining the Red Hat Society.{#emotions_dlg.scared}

I'm with you on that 100%, bikerbabe!

Red Hat ladies LOVE to dress up fancy. Together with other Red Hat groups join together and have fun traveling on cruses. Traveling out of town to other States to gamble. Have lunch and dinners together. Go to movies and have popcorn and goodies. Have fashion shows. Travel to Artist Events. Together they go out to see the latest new play. They take Art & Craft classes together. Etc. etc.

They never sit at home because they are out and about living life to the fullest.

My hat is off to them. Good for them.

When was the last time you two have done all those things with friends?

Um, I have lots of great times with my friends. We love going to brunch on the weekends, see plays, go to yoga, pilates classes, meet for drinks, ski in the winter and water activities in the summer. We also get together at each other's homes with our partners as we all like to entertain. What you described may be specific to another or other women , but would never be me or my circle of friends. Not my style at all.

Re: How much do you need to retire?

I have seen lots of red hat ladies around here in restaurants or working out at the gym or shopping and yet - I have not once - not ever - found them to be disturbing anyone and I have never seen a boa on anyone.I think some one has a preconcieved notion about them and no actual knowledge. I have some friends who are widows and are red hatters - it has been wonderful for them to have a social life instead of sitting around the house moaning and crying.

Re: How much do you need to retire?

55+ communities have changed, a lot. One of my professors who I keep in touch with thru FB has moved to a active seniors community in Washington state. It offers hiking and bike trails, bird watching, dog parks, wine tasting, gourmet cooking classes and a bunch of other stuff. It looks nothing like a place for seniors. Heck I'd move there if I could.

I have an active social life. No red hat. No sitting around the house moaning and crying. What is your point???

Red Hatter on a motorcycle? Um, no.{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

I can have plenty of fun and not dress in red and purple. Not my look at all! They are out and about here all the time. Just not my style or interest.

OWS, you know nothing about my life. I spend more time with men than women anyway. We have a crowd here right now watching football, mainly veterans.

ITA!! We are having a huge gathering tomrrow. Men downstairs in the family room as that is where the biggest tv in the house is. My girfriends and I upstairs, making party foods and cosmos for us and having a great time - probably watching a flick or two on Netflix, cranking up some music..just laughing and enjoying each other's company. Life is good!!

Re: How much do you need to retire?

Everyone is different and have different needs... I could never live in a trailer and made sure that I would never have to. I don't know why but the OP always seems to be trying to CONVINCE herself more than any of us that her life is fine the way it is. I sense a bit of sadness from her posts....kind of like she is trying very hard to convince herself that all is well.....

Just another post so HH can pat herself on her back.

If she's happy with her life, good for her. I have no desire to live in a senior community or a camper.

Pulling up a chair next to you, brii.

I'm pulling up another chair.

She's content with her camper. After all, she "traveled the world" with her first husband who was so wealthy he left her dead broke.

Red Hats DO ride on motorcycles. They do all kinds of fun things.

I have worked with men all of my life, where I am the only female. But we are talking about Red Hat Ladies.
