Ditto. When I go out and buy a camper . . . it will be time for the men with the jackets with sleeves in the back to come get me. And I've already told my kids when I get old to NEVER EVER take me to a buffet place for Mother's Day dinner. haha

Red Hat ladies LOVE to dress up fancy. Together with other Red Hat groups join together and have fun traveling on cruses. Traveling out of town to other States to gamble. Have lunch and dinners together. Go to movies and have popcorn and goodies. Have fashion shows. Travel to Artist Events. Together they go out to see the latest new play. They take Art & Craft classes together. Etc. etc.
They never sit at home because they are out and about living life to the fullest.
My hat is off to them. Good for them.
When was the last time you two have done all those things with friends?

I don't think you would know what a "great time" was if it fell out of a tree and hit you on the head. To have a "great time" you may require a personality, the abilility to realize it is not up to you judge how other people spend THEIR money. Oh yes, be genuinely "happy" and have a sense of humour. Quite necessary in order to have a "great time" with others.

no one size fits all answer. Just depends on what you want out of life and what it takes to satisfy each person. I retired debt free, a paid for home and live very simply. My dsaily clothes are jeans and tees and I'd rather do my volunteer work with rescued animals than go to a fancy restaurant so it takes very little to make me happy. I have a cushion in savings because I didn't buy everything under the sun when I was working so all in all, I think I'm better off than many people. I, like everyone else, could have something unforeseen happen but I don't live each day thinking that will happen. I try to stay in the moment so as not to get overwhelmed with all the things that could go wrong in life.
I hope to sell my house one day, buy a small trailer in the south and live out my golden years watching sunsets over the ocean. I don't need a million dollars for that dream.

Look, everyone is different. I don't like giggly groups of women wearing purple boas.
I travelled solo to Northern Japan this year. That is what I like. Not making a lot of noise in a restaurant, as the 'red hats' do in my community. Not clustering with other people of my age. I don't like it, and that's that.
I understand that people differ. They don't understand that others differ from them, perhaps. I like a diverse neighborhood, all kinds of people. That's what I like. Sorry people don't understand that.
I also like living in my own house, and I always will. Just my preference.
