I can't believe I am defending those sweet Red Hat Ladies. LOL

Okay. Let me clarify! I have no problem with Red Hat Ladies. I meet them all the time. They are sweet and fun. I personally think the fashion look is awful.
Not for me.
Gotta go and get the brownies and apple crisp ready. Almost halftime!

It was explained why they wear purple and red. From the poem ""When I grow old I will wear purple"" And the red for high energy color.
Nothing wrong with a lot of older ladies enjoying life. Let them do what ever makes them happy I say.

To each his own,no need to belittle each other.Whatever makes you happy and comfortable is what is right for you. Just remember that the best laid plans can change in an instant due to circumstances beyond your control.
Never say never because you just never know.

I just don't like red hats and would never wear one. Not my style at all. I do think the concept of making new friends and going out to dinner & shows with women your age is great!! ....Only most of the red hat ladies that I've seen are quite a bit older than 50.
As for retirement I think we're on the path to a good one as long as DH stays well. He has been ill off and on and I hope he can continue to work. I think he would drive me crazy if he retired too soon anyway...I really don't want him around the house all the time!
How much will we need? Good question and I'm not really sure of the answer but I think we'll be fine. I hope to travel but not all the time. I don't like long extended trips and though I love to go places I enjoy coming home to. We just booked a river cruise for the fall which will go from Provence to Paris. I'm really looking forward to it since we'll have a large group of extended family along too!

That is exactly the point. However the OP makes regular practice in judging/chastising others. She constantly think she has some sort of right to chastise anyone regarding skincare, makeup, other purchases anyone chooses to make in their life. How they spend their own monies. She can choose to live her life, spend her money however she chooses. But extend the same courtesy to everyone else. Anyone should enjoy their life however they choose, young, old. But what is enjoyable for one person is certainly not for another.

BINGO. She especially dislikes people spending money on Dooney's, Coach, and Fiesta dinnerware, hair coloring and probably many more. hahaha She really goes off the rails on those purchases. ![]()

Why would anyone complain about Fiesta dinnerware? It's pretty, good quality, and lots of people own it and like it.
